Chicago Bears vs Green Bay Packers: Injuries Impact Fantasy Lineups

There are a lot of different impact fantasy football players dealing with various injuries as we enter the second week of the 2012 NFL season. In running through which players you should start this week it makes perfect sense to take a look at the injury report.

Let’s take a gander at the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears Thursday night matchup and how injuries will impact fantasy production.

Greg Jennings, Wide Receiver, Green Bay Packers: Groin, Doubtful

If for some ridiculous reason Randall Cobb is still sitting on the waiver wire, pick the dude up right now. He is going to make an impact no matter what other Packers’ receivers are lined up on offense.

Take Jennings out of the equation and Cobb’s value goes up much more. He will still play the slot with either James Jones or Donald Driver lining up opposite Jordy Nelson. That really isn’t the point. Cobbs will see more targets from Rodgers and make a consistently good impact for Green Bay tonight against the Bears.

More importantly, Cobb will help you out on special teams, depending on the type of standard league you play in. Either way, huge potential and probably one of the highest ceilings of any young fantasy player in the NFL.

Charles Tillman, Cornerback, Chicago Bears, Ankle, Questionable

Whenever an opposing No. 1 cornerback goes down to injury the other team is definitely going to look to exploit it. There is a certain trickle-down effect that comes with this. Tim Jennings will be the Bears’ No. 1 guy on the outside with Kelvin Heydon playing opposite tonight against Green Bay if Tillman is unable to go.

Talk about mismatches.

Even with Jennings most likely unable to go, Green Bay is in a much better situation if Tillman has to sit out tonight. You know have to think about starting Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and even Jermichael Finley. Heck, James Jones might get some play as well.

What fantasy owner wouldn’t feel good about Cobb going up against the likes of Sherrick McManis or D.J. Moore? Seriously, that is a major mismatch. Hayden having to go up against either Jones or Driver has to be considered a mismatch too.

Needless to say, start every single healthy Packers’ receiving threat here and be happy with the decision.
