The Indianapolis Colts need the Denver Broncos to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night in order to stay alive in the AFC playoff race. They also need about a million other things to fall their way in the final week of the season to earn the AFC South title.
This didn't get off to a good start for the Colts on Monday.
Head coach Chuck Pagano reported that backup quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, the Colts starter since Andrew Luck went down to injury, has a Grade 1 AC sprain and is doubtful to play Sunday. Meanwhile, veteran Charlie Whitehurst is done for the season with a hamstring injury.
Pagano failed to provide an update regarding Luck's status, but did indicate that it looks like Stephen Morris will get the start Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
Morris, an un-drafted free agent out of Miami (F) last year, has not attempted a single regular season pass in his career. Short of Luck being able to go after missing several weeks with a lacerated kidney and abdominal injuries, Morris will get the nod.
This would pretty much be the "perfect" way for the Colts to end what has been a disastrous 2015 campaign.
