Cowboys and Rams Engage in Ugly Brawl During Join Practice

From New York to Carolina, and now Oxnard in California, the NFL training camp season has been full of black eyes (almost literally) for the NFL.

The latest incident came Tuesday afternoon with the St. Louis Rams and Dallas Cowboys holding a joint practice at the home of the Cowboys training camp facility in Oxnard— a venue where Rams owner Stan Kroenke is hoping his team is prepping for the season next year.

And it was ugly.

The first video from NBC's Pat Doney shows us just how extensive the fight was. From first-year Rams running back Todd Gurley to Tre Mason and Dez Bryant, there were some big-named players involved in the fight. In fact, Bryant apparently took a punch to the face from a Rams player while not wearing a helmet.

Really, this is just a culmination of what has been a disastrous training camp period for what is quickly becoming an NFL filled with violence on the practice field. It's also a bad look for a league that's attempting to move on from the PR disasters of the past year or so. Continued fights between teams and teammates with young fans in attendance is most definitely a bad look.

The issue here is that Roger Goodell and company are in a no-win situation here. They can't possibly threaten suspensions for fights that occur during an individual team's practice. If that were to happen, the backlash would be huge. Instead, it's up to the teams themselves to keep their house in order.
