While old saying about preseason football is "it's just preseason", it's still important to see young players shine in their first taste of the NFL game. We saw that on Saturday as Dak Prescott picked apart the St. Louis Rams defense and moved the ball up and down the field. With Tony Romo inactive, Prescott played the entire first half and gave Dallas fans plenty to be excited about for the future.
In mixed matchups against the Rams' first-string defense and backup defense, Prescott was nearly perfect in his first half of action. He completed 10 of 12 passes on the night, with one attempt dropped by a receiver, and threw for 139 yards and two touchdowns. Prescott also showed his ability to make defenders miss and extend the play in the pocket, another positive sign for the rookie quarterback.
Time after time, Prescott delivered throws on point to wide receivers in stride or in the spot where only they could catch it. The 23-year-old fourth-round pick turned in one of the best rookie performances in the first week of the preseason and while the night was supposed to be about the return of football to Los Angeles and Jared Goff's debut, it was Prescott that stole the show.
