Dallas Cowboys vs. Chicago Bears: Who is in the Spotlight?

Not only isCowboys  the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears game tonight big in the standings, it represents a whose who of fantasy football performers. In fact, some of you might be relying on big games from certain players in order to win your matchup this week. I know I am.

Let’s take a look at some of the biggest matchups here.

Brandon Marshall vs Brandon Carr

Dallas has given up an average of 137 passing yards per game this season, by far the best number in the National Football League. Meanwhile, Marshall has caught only 44 percent of the passes thrown in his direction over the course of the last two games following a breakout performance against the Indianapolis Colts in the season opener.

Needless to say, Carr and company have the advantage here. I wouldn’t touch Marshall with a ten-foot pole right now. That being said, you might have to run him out there and hope for the best depending on what your fantasy roster looks like.

DeMarco Murray vs. Bears Run Defense

Murray has been an enigmatic fantasy performer thus far in 2012. He has only recorded one touchdown, which doesn’t represent true RB1 value. With that in mind, the talented young running back provides everything else a fantasy owner looks for...Yards, receptions and reps.

Chicago will get their first real test against the run tonight after giving up an average of just 76 rushing yards against three lackluster run teams this season. It will definitely be interesting to see if Dallas decides to go to the ground and pound, especially considering that they have to worry about the Bears pass-rush. On that note.

Pass Protection vs Pass-Rush

Both of these teams feature elite pass-rushes as well as mediocre pass-protection. In reality, the over/under as it relates to sacks has to be 12-plus. Tony Romo has been sacked seven times in three games and is going up against a Chicago front seven that has recorded 14 sacks during that span. Meanwhile, Jay Cutler has been sacked 11 times and will be having to fend against a Dallas defense that has recorded seven sacks.

Needless to say, fantasy production from each quarterback will be largely dependent on an ability of their offensive lines to do pass block. Much easier said than done.

Conclusion

I am not a fan of any fantasy player in this game to be honest. The pickings seem to be ripe for a defensive battle. Consequently, Forte isn’t anywhere near 100 percent right now. I guess Murray or Michael Bush could be considered “decent” starts tonight. Outside of that, not much here.
