After sitting out last week's game against the New York Jets, DeMarco Murray is expected to return to action this week. Murray missed last week's game with a hamstring injury, but has returned this week and been a full participant in practice on Thursday and Friday.
It was a smart move for Philadelphia to set out Murray last week, but it came at a cost for Murray. After struggling to total 11 rushing yards on 21 carries in two games and it appearing like the Eagles' offense was a mess, Ryan Mathews was outstanding. he finished with 108 rushing yards on 24 carries along with 20 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Mathews' performance along with an Eagles win did raise the question some if the problem wasn't the play-calling or the offensive line, but Murray himself. This could be a very important game for Murray to play in just in terms of what his role will be on this team moving forward.
Even if Murray is able to play though, Philadelphia is facing a Washington' defense that has allowed the second-fewest fantasy points allowed to running backs this season. Murray's status will likely be determined pregame on Sunday when he tests out his hamstring and judges if he can play on it or not.
