The Denver Broncos running back pairing of Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson have frustrated fantasy owners all season. Each week people have tried to predict who would have the bigger game and receive the bigger workload, but things always seemed to work out differently.
This week there will be no guessing necessary with Broncos' coach Gary Kubiak naming Hillman the Broncos' starting running back for Week 14 after Anderson missed a third straight day of practice with an ankle injury. While Kubiak said on Friday that Anderson could still be active against the Oakland Raiders, the signs are pointing towards Anderson not seeing the field in Week 14.
If Anderson is out, Juwan Thompson would likely step in as Denver's number-two running back. Thompson saw some work last week against the San Diego Chargers, turning nine touches into 41 total yards. Given Kubiak's history of using running back by committee, Thompson could see up to 12-14 touches on Sunday.
Hillman is still the fantasy play here and should see 16-18 touches. Denver's running game has been significantly improved under quarterback Brock Osweiler and with a matchup against a Raiders' defense that has allowed 543 total yards to opposing running backs over the last four games, Hillman makes for a very nice play in both DFS and season-long leagues.
