Early last week, Washington was hopeful wide receiver DeSean Jackson would be able to return to the field soon, but that optimism was wiped out when he suffered a setback. Now after missing practice all week, Jackson has been ruled out for Week 7's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Jackson initially suffered the severe hamstring strain in Week 1 and while he steadily made progress on his initial two-to-three week timetable, things have not gone as planned.
This will now be the sixth game he has missed this season and you have to wonder if Washington falls to 2-5 and possibly 2-6 next week with a game against the New England Patriots, if the team will just choose to place him on injured reserve and let Jamison Crowder remain the starter for the remainder of the season.
On a positive note, Washington gets back tight end Jordan Reed this week, who has been one of Kirk Cousins' favorite targets. Reed will return to top-12 tight end status on a weekly basis.
