While the Dallas Cowboys are excited to bring back receiver Dez Bryant just six weeks after he had surgery to repair the broken fifth metatarsal in his right foot, they are going to exercise some caution. Cowboys' Vice President Stephen Jones told reports that Bryant will be on a "pitch count" against the Seattle Seahawks.
"There's going to be a pitch count. As to what the number is, I think that's to be determined,", Jones told reporters on Saturday. Bryant has been labeled "questionable" for Sunday's game, but the fact that Jones has said he will be on a pitch count is a strong indicator he will play.
Whether or not this is a good decision by the Cowboys to even play Bryant this soon after a major surgery is very debatable. There are numerous cases of wide receivers having this same surgery and it reoccurring a year or two later, or subsequent injuries follow in its place.
With a matchup against Richard Sherman on tap, working on a snap count and having Matt Cassel throw him the football, it just doesn't make much sense right now to start Bryant.
