Dooley Hired as New Dallas Cowboys Assistant

In another move by Jerry Jones and the Cowboys staff, they have officially hired Derek Dooley as the wide receivers coach.  Dooley was fired from the University of Tennessee this past season after another disappointing season for the Vols.  Jimmy Robinson will stay on with the Cowboys as a consultant which is good news for Dez Bryant.

Jason Garrett is familiar with Dooley from their time together under Nick Saban at Miami.  Even with Dooley moving in, it's not too clear that he will be the cure all for an underachieving wide receiver corp.  Outside of Dez Bryant there wasn’t one other receiver who was consistent or could stay on the field.  Since Miles Austin signed his big deal worth $57 million over seven years he hasn’t been able to stay healthy.

On the other hand, Kevin Ogletree had one game at the beginning season then he disappeared for the rest of the year.  Without the late season emergence of Dwayne Harris this group would be mediocre at best.  Wide Receiver is definitely a need come draft time.

With the wide receivers position filled the Cowboys still need a running backs coach and tight ends coach with John Garrett leaving to Tampa Bay.
