Drew Brees Out Sunday versus Carolina Panthers

The New Orleans Saints chances of picking up their first win of the season took a massive hit on Sunday. Drew Brees, who has been limited in practice all week with a shoulder injury, has been ruled out for Sunday's game.

It's a smart move for New Orleans, giving more time for Brees shoulder to rest and any potential bruising or swellowing to heal with an extra week

With Brees, out Luke McCown will take a break from commercials and get his chance to start at quarterback. With a matchup set against the Carolina Panthers. McCown is not worth looking at as even the cheapest contrarian play in DFS.

Original Story:

In a season that has the makings of another downer for the New Orleans Saints, the team might be without quarterback Drew Brees for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers. There has been plenty of speculation this week about Brees' shoulder injury, while the injury doesn't seem as serious as previously thought, his playing status is still uncertain.

Brees and the Saints were walked over by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers secondary last week and when many expected Brees to light up a weak Buccaneers' secondary, he threw for just 255 yards, one touchdown and an interception. Brees took a big hit and his throws after just lacked any touch or the typical velocity you'd see from him.

New Orleans has been cautious with Brees in practice this week in hopes of his shoulder having more time to heal. Sean Payton told reporters there is a good chance Brees plays Sunday, but other reports have painted a less optimistic picture.

Even if Brees is able to play, he should be avoided in all fantasy leagues this week. New Orleans has not shown they can move the ball down the field with big plays and Brees clearly isn't near 100 percent. Throw in Panthers top cornerback Josh Norman shutting down a Saints' receiver and Brees belongs on the bench this week in fantasy.
