Eddie Lacy Officially Demoted, James Starks to Start

If you have watched the Green Bay Packers play much this season, you know full well that James Starks has been the more impressive running back between himself and Eddie Lacy

After a three-game stretch that has seen Lacy go for 51 yards on 19 attempts, he's officially been demoted by the Packers to the second team:

This means that Starks will get the start against a horrendous Detroit Lions defense on Sunday.

For his part, Starks has gone for 257 total yards and three touchdowns over the past three games.

For all intents and purposes, this has been a running back by committee approach in Green Bay. Starks has put up 334 rushing yards with Lacy going for 308 heading into Week 10.

It will be interesting to see how the touches are handed out on Sunday, but the expectation here is that the Packers will give Starks the ability to prove himself as the team's primary ball carrier.

As it relates to Lacy, a combination of injuries and a lack of physical conditioning has him in this spot. He suffered an ankle injury against the Seattle Seahawks in the team's second game and exited last week's game with a groin issue. Lacy's also been considerably slower on the field and has shown himself to be overweight this season.

Starks becomes a solid DFS value play against a Lions defense that's giving up an average of 140 total yards to the running back position. Depending on your situation in year-long leagues, Starks also provides top-15 upside there.

Lacy is still a rosterable player, but it's trending to him being irrelevent from a fantasy aspect.
