Eric Berry will Play in Preseason Opener

While stories about deflated footballs and a punch in the locker room have grabbed headlines, Kansas City Chiefs' reporter B.J. Kissel reported an update on one of the best stories of training camp. Safety Eric Berry, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in early December last year, will return to the field and play in a game for the first time since November.

It was announced in late July, that Berry was cleared of cancer after eight months of fighting Hodgkin lymphoma. The 26-year-old's battle with cancer led to the #Berry Strong movement, both from Kansas City Chiefs fans and across the NFL.

Kansas City has been working him back slowly, understandably given what he has gone through and how long he has been away from NFL training. Chiefs' coaches have worked him in with the second-team defense, allowing him to get back in football shape and work at his own pace as he builds himself back into the First-team All-Pro form he played at in 2013.

Berry may only play limited snaps in the Chiefs' preseason opener, but it's just a blessing that he beat cancer and has made it back on to the NFL field. Berry has outstanding talent and is a phenomenal young man, making the news just that much better to hear. This has already been the feel good story of the 2015 pre-season and it will continue to grow as Berry gets back in top shape and returns as a starter.
