According to eDraft’s player consistency tool, the five tight ends who performed most consistently in either achieving a minimum set number of yards per game, and/or scoring a minimum amount of touchdowns per game in the 2013 fantasy football season were Jimmy Graham, Vernon Davis, Julius Thomas, Jason Witten and Jordan Cameron.
The player consistency tool can be adjusted to various settings to measure performance based on a tight end attaining anywhere from 50 to 200 yards per game, and/or scoring one or two touchdowns per game. The five above-mentioned tight ends ranked highest in consistency when the tool was adjusted to its multiple settings.
At its default setting, eDraft’s tool measures consistency for a tight end completing 50 total yards and/or scoring one touchdown per game.
For instance, measuring the performance of the New Orleans Saints tight end, Graham using this default setting shows he achieved these results in 81% of his 16 games played in 2013. If you owned Graham on your fantasy team, most weeks he rewarded you with plenty of fantasy points.
Note that the “Either” column number means the player either met the minimum number of total yards and/or scored the minimum amount of touchdowns per game.
Jimmy Graham | Consistency | 50+Total Yds | 75+Total Yds | 100+Total Yds | 1+TD | 2+TD | Either |
| 81% | 10 | 6 | 6 | 11 | 5 | 13 |
If you want to rank the consistency of the tight ends a bit more strictly, changing the minimum total yards per game to 100 and/or scoring one touchdown, San Francisco 49er’s tight end, Davis met these statistics in 73% of his 15 total 2013 games. As you can see, Davis only hit the 100 total yard mark once, but he scored the minimum of one touchdown in 11 of his games, resulting in 73% consistency.
Vernon Davis | Consistency | 100+Total Yds | 125+Total Yds | 150+Total Yds | 1+TD | 2+TD | Either |
| 73% | 1 | 1 | 1 | 11 | 2 | 11 |
Changing the metric to grade the tight ends even a bit tougher where they had to either achieve 150 minimum yards and/or score one touchdown, Denver Broncos tight end, and fantasy football steal of 2013, Thomas, achieved these results in 71% of his 14 games played.
Julius Thomas | Consistency | 150+Total Yds | 175+Total Yds | 200+Total Yds | 1+TD | 2+TD | Either |
| 71% | 0 | 0 | 0 | 10 | 2 | 10 |
In decreasing the yards back to a total of 100 completed per game and increasing the touchdowns to a minimum of two, veteran tight end Witten of the Dallas Cowboys ranked second in this particular metric meeting these numbers in 31% of his games played.
Jason Witten | Consistency | 100+Total Yds | 125+Total Yds | 150+Total Yds | 1+TD | 2+TD | Either |
| 31% | 3 | 1 | 0 | 6 | 2 | 5 |
Lastly, using the player consistency tool and lessening the minimum total yards to 75, but keeping the minimum touchdowns at two, Cleveland Browns rookie tight end, Cameron hit these numbers in 40% of his 15 games played. That might not appear too impressive, but Cameron ranked second in this setting just under Graham who had these results in 50% of his games in 2013.
Jordan Cameron | Consistency | 75+Total Yds | 100+Total Yds | 125+Total Yds | 1+TD | 2+TD | Either |
| 40% | 5 | 2 | 0 | 5 | 1 | 6 |
If you had one, or were lucky enough to own two of these fantasy tight ends, they primarily presented you with a respectable amount of fantasy points most every week of the 2013 season.
