Fantasy Football: Bid Recommendations for Week 14

Here we are. It's crunch time in the fantasy football season. Depending on what league you are playing in, you are either entering the final week of the regular season or in the midst of preparing for the playoffs.

The importance of setting your roster to take this into account cannot be overstated. Preparing for the unknown and potentially adding solid bench options as the postseason gets going can put you in a situation to succeed.

Here is a look at our bid recommendations for Week 14 of the NFL season.

Based on allocated blind-bid funds of $100, here are those free agents you should target heading into Week 14. Keep in mind, this is looking at the situation through the lens of an owner that has yet to dip into his/her funds this year.

Tyrod Taylor, Quarterback, Buffalo Bills ($25)

If you are not on the Taylor train yet, it's possible that you are already left behind. Following a four-touchdown performance against the Houston Texans this past week, Taylor has now put up three-plus touchdowns in four of his 10 starts this season.

Despite missing two games to injury, this first-year starting quarterback also ranks 17th at his position in fantasy points heading into Week 14.

With games coming up against four substandard defenses as it relates to defending fantasy quarterbacks, Taylor has an opportunity to catch fire moving forward. That starts this upcoming week against a Philadelphia Eagles defense that has yielded the third-most fantasy points to quarterbacks on the season.

Marcus Mariota, Quarterback, Tennessee Titans ($15)

Also missing two games thus far this season, it's amazing that Mariota sees himself as a mid-tier QB2 through Week 13. That's made possible by him putting up seven total touchdowns over the course of the past two weeks.

While we are surprised by Mariota's performance this season, it is important to note that his play since returning from a sprained MCL represents an improvement from pretty good play earlier in the year. With games coming up against the New York Jets and New England Patriots, Mariota has a chance to continue his stellar rookie campaign.

Unlike Taylor, the lack of skill-position talent surrounding Mariota should be taken into account here. In this, he's not as sure of a bet as his counterpart in Buffalo.

Javorius Allen, Running Back, Baltimore Ravens ($30)

Allen actually finished last week as the top fantasy running back with 29 points. He tallied 63 yards on 17 attempts while recording 12 receptions for 107 yards and a touchdown.

With Justin Forsett out for the season, Allen will continue to be the Ravens' primary ball carrier. In fact, he has put up 45 touches over the past  two games, compiling an average of 5.6 yards per touch.

You shouldn't only exhaust your remaining capital on Allen, you should seriously consider slotting him in as a RB2 or FLEX option moving forward. Though, that probably shouldn't come against an elite Seattle Seahawks defense in Week 14.

Shaun Draughn, Running Back, San Francisco 49ers ($20)

With favorable matchups against the Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions remaining on the season, you might be able to catch lightning in a bottle with this former Browns castoff.

Draughn finished as the 10th-best fantasy running back this past week, tallying 86 yards and a touchdown on 18 touches. It's the fourth consecutive time that Draughn has put up a minumum of 16 touches, 78 yards and four receptions. Not too shabby for someone that was on the street just over a month ago.

Doug Baldwin, Wide Receiver, Seattle Seahawks ($25)

With five touchdowns over the past two games, Baldwin suddenly finds himself as the 13th-best fantasy receiver heading into Week 14. In fact, Russell Wilson's new favorite target in the passing game is the top fantasy receiver over the past two weeks.

Taking on the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns over the next two weeks, there's a darn good chance Baldwin will find himself as a top-10 fantasy receiver in each game. That makes him a dynamite of a waiver-wire add this late in the year. Depending on your situation, exhaust all of your remaining funds in a blind bid here.

Scott Chandler, Tight End, New England Patriots ($10)

We don't really know when Rob Gronkowski will return to action. Though, it's safe to say it won't be this upcoming week. Depending on how bad off you are at tight end, maybe pick Chandler up as a one-week streaming option to either put yourself into the playoffs or earn a first-round win.

Chandler has put up nine receptions for 119 yards and two touchdowns on a whopping 18 targets over the past two games.
