Fantasy Football: Biggest Injury Impacts in Week Five

With Week five upon on us now, injuries are becoming crucial already in fantasy football. Let's take a look at the notable ones for the upcoming slate of games.

Andrew Luck, Quarterback, Indianapolis Colts (shoulder) - Luck continues to be limited in practice due to a shoulder injury. Despite that, he is in no danger of missing anytime as the team is simply managing his reps in practice. Don't be concerned with Luck on the injury report as he will continue to play.

Cam Newton, Quarterback, Carolina Panthers (concussion) - Newton suffered a concussion in week four and the Panthers held out hope that he'd be ready to play in week five. He was ruled out on Saturday and will not play against the Buccaneers. His status for week six is up in the air but he should be back in time for that.

Jay Cutler, Quarterback, Chicago Bears (thumb) - Cutler continues to miss practice after suffering a thumb injury a couple of weeks ago. He will be out again in week five and may not even be the starting quarterback when he does eventually return if Brian Hoyer continues to play week.

LeGarrette Blount, Running Back, New England Patriots (hip) - Blount was limited in practice on Thursday and Friday with a hip injury. It is concerning due to the fact that he went on injured reserve in 2015 due to a hip injury. With that said, Blount appears to be in no danger of missing week five despite being questionable. He'll play.

LeSean McCoy, Running Back, Buffalo Bills (hand) - McCoy suffered a hand injury during Friday's practice and is listed as "questionable". Despite that, McCoy has said he will play and everything points to him playing as well. He doesn't appear to be dealing with anything but a minor injury and should be fine for week five.

Matt Forte, Running Back, New York Jets (knee, ribs) - Forte was carted off the field in week four with a ribs injury. Despite that, x-rays came back negative and Forte managed to practice this week. He is listed as questionable but should play in week five. He'll be fine.

Doug Martin, Running Back, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (hamstring) - Martin has been dealing with a moderate hamstring injury the past few weeks and will not play in week five. He could be on his way back, but has already been ruled out for week five. Keep him on your bench.

Charles Sims, Running Back, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (knee) - Sims popped up on the injury report with a knee injury that hampered him all week in practice. He is labelled as doubtful for the game but will not play on Monday Night Football.

Latavius Murray, Running Back, Oakland Raiders (toe) - Murray is dealing with a turf toe injury that he tried this week to practice through, but was unable to. He has been ruled out for week five as he will likely be week-to-week right now as he was ruled out days before the game.

Frank Gore, Running Back, Indianapolis Colts (chest) - Gore was on the injury report earlier this week with a chest injury but has practiced fully all week and was removed from the injury report. He will be fine for week five.

Ryan Mathews, Running Back, Philadelphia Eagles (ankles) - Mathews went into his week four bye with injuries to both of his ankles. Coming into this weekend, he has been taken off the Eagles injury report and will play on Sunday. He may be limited given his injury history, but he will be active.

Rashad Jennings, Running Back, New York Giants (thumb) - Jennings has missed the past two weeks with a thumb injury. He is limited coming into week five, but reports indicate he is unlikely to play in week five. In a very tough match-up against the Packers, he should be on fantasy benches regardless of whether he plays or not.

Jeremy Hill, Running Back, Cincinnati Bengals (chest) - Hill popped up on the injury report earlier in the week with a chest injury but has practiced fully. He was taken off the injury report as well and will be fine to suit up in week five.

Jeremy Langford, Running Back, Chicago Bears (ankle) - While he has no chance of playing yet, Langford is on the Bears injury report as doubtful. Despite this, he has no shot of playing this week nor anytime in the near future as he tries to come back from his severe ankle injury.

Tevin Coleman, Running Back, Atlanta Falcons (sickle cell) - While this isn't an injury. Coleman and the Eagles travel to Denver, where they play in high altitudes. Like Ryan Clark, Coleman is dealing with a rare sickle cell trait that makes it hard to play in high altitudes. He will play this week but should not be rostered as he could be very limited given his health.

Dwayne Washington, Running Back, Detroit Lions (ankle, foot) - After suffering his injury(ies) in week four, Washington is listed as doubtful this weekend and will not play. He is more likely to be week-to-week rather than having a solid shot of returning in week six as he is dealing with sprains in both his foot and ankle.

Arian Foster, Running Back, Miami Dolphins (groin, hamstring) - While Foster looked to make progress this week in practice, he is listed as doubtful for week five and will not play. This will be his third straight missed game but has a decent shot at suiting up in week six.

Kenneth Dixon, Running Back, Baltimore Ravens (knee) - Dixon suffered a knee injury in the pre-season that has kept him out of games thus far. But he has practiced in full for week five and will play despite the questionable tag. He will likely have a few touches but not many as he works his way back fully.

Jonathan Stewart, Running Back, Carolina Panthers (hamstring) - Stewart has been out since going down with a hamstring injury in week two and will also miss this week as he continues to recover. Coach Ron Rivera said he is "pretty comfortable" with Stewart playing in week six, so he has a good shot to return next week.

Alshon Jeffrey, Wide Receiver, Chicago Bears (knee) - Jeffery was limited in practice all week with a knee injury but will suit up in week five despite the questionable tab. With Eddie Royal unlikely to play, Jeffery could be in for a big game.

Julian Edelman, Wide Receiver, New England Patriots (foot) - Edelman popped up the Patriots week five injury report earlier this week with a foot injury. Edelman has had issues with his foot since injuring it early last season. Despite being limited and being labelled as questionable, Edelman will be fine for week five as the team is likely managing his reps.

Dez Bryant, Wide Receiver, Dallas Cowboys (knee) - Bryant is continuing to work his way back from a knee injury he suffered in week three, but he has not practiced at all leading up to week five. He is listed as questionable but reports indicate he will not suit up for week five. Keep him on benches for the time being.

Marvin Jones, Wide Receiver, Detroit Lions (foot) - Despite being on the Lions injury report with a foot injury, Jones practiced all week in limited fashion. With that being said, he will suit up in week five with no issues. Start him confidently.

Stefon Diggs, Wide Receiver, Minnesota Vikings (groin) - Diggs is dealing with a groin injury and is listed as doubtful for week five. He will not suit up and with the team on bye in week six, Diggs will likely be back in week seven in much better health.

Eric Decker, Wide Receiver, New York Jets (shoulder) - Decker continues to deal with his pesky shoulder injury and will miss his second straight game because of it. He was ruled out already and remains week-to-week. Keep him on benches for now.

Eddie Royal, Wide Receiver, Chicago Bears (calf) - Royal is coming off a terrific game in week four but did not practice all week with a calf injury. He is listed as questionable and coach John Fox is calling him a "game-time decision". He likely will not play but be sure to check back in tomorrow for the final determination.

Quincy Enunwa, Wide Receiver, New York Jets (knee) - Enunwa popped up with a knee injury this week but practiced fully on Wednesday and Thursday. He did sit out Friday, which is troubling. Despite that, New York Post is reporting that he will play in week five. Be sure to check back in tomorrow but he should be out there.

Rob Gronkowski, Tight End, New England Patriots (hamstring) - Gronkowski continues to be limited in practice with his hamstring injury. Despite that, he will once again suit up on Sunday. With Tom Brady back, Gronk could be near 100% after playing 67% of snaps in week four.

Tyler Eifert, Tight End, Cincinnati Bengals (ankle, back) - Eifert appeared poised at the beginning of the week to be returning from his ankle injury but then suffered a back injury in practice. He has been ruled out for week five and is not a lock to play in week six either at this point.

Zach Miller, Tight End, Chicago Bears (ribs) - Miller has been limited in practice all week due to a ribs injury. Even though he is listed as questionable, he is in no danger of missing week five. He'll play and go for his third straight week with a touchdown.

Antonio Gates, Tight End, San Diego Chargers (hamstring) - Gates has been out the past two games with a hamstring injury. He is questionable for week five but appears poised to play after practicing in full on Friday. He should be a game-time decision but figure on him playing on Sunday.

Zach Ertz, Tight End, Philadelphia Eagles (ribs) - After missing weeks two and three, Ertz is ready to come back in week five following his bye week last week. He has been practicing in full and has been cleared by doctors. He will suit up against the Lions.

Eric Ebron, Tight End, Detroit Lions (ankle, knee) - Ebron has not practiced all week after dealing with a knee injury in addition to his ankle injury. Because of that, he has been ruled out for week five. Consider him 50-50 at best for week six at this point.

Larry Donnell, Tight End, New York Giants (concussion) - Donnell suffered a concussion in week four's game and has been ruled out for week five. He did not practice all week and will be week-to-week as he continues to go through protocol.
