Fantasy Football: Deep Waiver Recommendations for Week 15

A.J. McCarron, Quarterback, Cincinnati Bengals

With Andy Dalton considered week-to-week, McCarron will get a chance to start against a San Francisco 49ers defense that ranks in the middle of the pack against fantasy quarterbacks. After that, and assuming Dalton is out for the remainder of the year, this Alabama product will take on the Denver Broncos before wrapping up the regular season against the hapless Baltimore Ravens.

Two of three isn't bad here.

If you are in a deeper league and have been dealt a slight of hand at quarterback due to the numerous amount of injuries at that position, McCarron might be the best option remaining. It's not saying a lot, but that's where we are at in the season.

Denard Robinson, Running Back, Jacksonville Jaguars

With T.J. Yeldon potentially out for multiple weeks due to sprained knee he suffered Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, it appears that Robinson will be given a shot to start moving forward. The fact that Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley refused to discuss Robinson's status during Monday's press conference magnifies this even further.

Robinson put up 75 yards and a score on 14 attempts Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. With a game coming up against an Atlanta Falcons defense that has yielded the third-most fantasy points to running backs, Robinson becomes a solid waiver add. Considering Atlanta has also given up 729 receiving yards to running backs, this idea takes on a whole new level.

James White, Running Back, New England Patriots

LeGarrette Blount had an MRI on his hip Monday, but there is no update regarding his status. That's normally not great news, but the Patriots don't really tip their hand when it comes to something like this.

Either way, there's a good chance White will find himself featured more moving forward. He followed up a 10-catch, 115-yard performance two weeks ago by catching four of the six passes thrown in his direction for 38 yards on Sunday.

The only real issue here is a lack of rush attempts. Despite putting up 17 touches over the past two games, only three came via a run. Though, White will surely see an uptick on the ground should Blount miss substantial action. That will definitely be something to keep an eye on as the week progresses.

Darren Sproles, Running Back, Philadelphia Eagles

By now it's well known that DeMarco Murray is no longer the primary ball-carrier for the first-place Eagles. With Ryan Mathews starting Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, Sproles was still able to rack up 45 yards and a touchdown in nine touches.

Mathews himself went for 42 yards on 15 touches while Murray tallied 13 touches for 37 yards.

This situation sounds like something to avoid in the fantasy football world. And while that might very well be true, Sproles is likely going to be the least impacted of the three when it comes to a committee approach. He's going to continue being the obvious passing down and third-down back, which is an indication he will continue to get touches over the final three weeks of the season.

Isaiah Crowell, Running Back, Cleveland Browns

It is important to look at last week's performance against San Francisco as an outlier. Cleveland entered Week 14 among the worst teams in the NFL as it relates to running the ball. Putting up 145 yards and two touchdowns on 20 attempts, Crowell simply took advantage of an uninspired defensive performance.

With games coming up against the Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs — two of the best run defenses in the NFL — Crowell will likely struggle. It still won't hurt to take a chance on him as a bench option for next week in order to see what he will do against Seattle.

Dorial Green-Beckham, Wide Receiver, Tennessee Titans

There will come a time when Green-Beckham is no longer even close to available on the waiver wire. Unfortunately for those of you who have had to rely on him, that hasn't been the case. Prior to a 119-yard performance against Jacksonville two weeks ago, this rookie had put up 250 yards in 11 games.

Now coming off a three-catch, 53-yard performance against the New York Jets, Green-Beckham has put up two consecutive solid outings. Equally as important, he received six-plus targets in each of those two games.

Ted Ginn, Wide Receiver, Carolina Panthers

With seven catches for 240 yards and four touchdowns over the past two weeks, Ginn now finds himself as a bottom-end WR2 heading into Week 15. That's utterly absurd.

While it may still be hard to rely on a receiver that has failed to record more than two catches seven times this season, Ginn has obviously become Cam Newton's favorite target at the wide receiver position. With his big-play ability, you might be able to hit lightning in a botle here.

Zach Ertz, Tight End, Philadelphia Eagles

Coming off a five-catch, 98-yard performance against the Buffalo Bills, Ertz has started to find a nice connection with Sam Bradford. It represented the sixth time in the past eight games that Ertz has put up four-plus catches. You might be able to find some consistency at tight end in deeper leagues here.
