2016 Review

Despite finishing with just 56 catches and a sub 60 percent reception rate, Jackson was able to put up his fifth career 1,000-yard season. That was aided by the fact that he tied Chris Hogan for the best yards per reception average among qualified NFL receivers. And in reality, this is what Jackson has always brought to the table. He's a big-play threat unlike any we see in today's professional football world.

This also brings somewhat of an issue to the forefront. A long with the high yardage pre receptions and comparatively low catch total comes a lack of consistency from a fantasy perspective. After all, Jackson put up one-third of his fantasy points in just three games. Magnified that further, his four-worst statistical games combined to give owners 11.5 fantasy points.

Dynasty Outlook

At 30 years of age and reliant on speed, we have to be cautious here. There will come a time relatively soon where Jackson will hit the wall. When that happens, he has yet to prove capable of being a consistent possession performer. After all, Jackson's career high in receptions during a nine-year NFL career is 82.

With that said, there's reason enough to believe that he has a couple years remaining at a level where he can be a breakaway threat. This makes his value as what it was in 2016, a decent FLEX option in 12-team leagues that don't value PPR at a hih clip.

Free Agency Outlook

There's going to be some strong interest in Jackson's services. Whenever a team can provide that deep threat to force a defense to cover over the top, it opens up the rest of the offense. There's going to be as many as three quarter of the NFL teams interested in Jackson when he hits the open market.

Various reports have suggested that Jackson wants to return to the Philadelphia Eagles. That would be a match made in heaven. Philadelphia struggled big time at receiver this past season and could use that deep threat for strong-armed young quarterback Carson Wentz.

In reality, it's all about where Jackson lands that will dictate his fantasy value in 2016 and beyond. There's so many good fits here that the moment he signs a deal, our projection for 2017 will be readily available.

Potential Suitors: Philadelphia Eagles, Carolina Panthers, Arizona Cardinals, Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots
