Frank Gore or Stevan Ridley? This question is bound to come up in your fantasy draft this season. So who do you go with and why? Let me give you some reasons as to why not only both picks are good picks, but who the better choice is.
Frank Gore - Running Back, San Francisco 49ers
If you are a big 49ers fan, you probably heard about Frank Gore’s recent injury, however that injury remains unknown (Harbaugh indicated he is "working through a little something") it still made headlines, and could be of some concern for fantasy seekers. Last season however, was one of his better seasons number-wise. He rushed for 1,212 yards, pocketed eight touchdowns, and got fantasy owners 196.80 points last year in regular season play. His age may worry some fantasy owners, but having him on your team as an alternate is definitely something to be thankful for. Keep an eye out for that “minor injury” to see if it’s a setback for the eight year veteran. Remember, San Francisco suffered a torn Achilles injury in Michael Crabtree which may be something to take into account.
2013 Stat Projections: 1,100 rushing yards, seven rushing touchdowns, 250 receiving yards, and two touchdowns.
Stevan Ridley - Running Back, New England Patriots
Ridley is more than ready for the 2013 season. He should up to the Patriots conditioning program with a noticeable amount of muscle from the off season, which probably made the New England coaching staff excited. This shouldn’t surprise fantasy seekers. Ridley was phenomenal last year. He landed 1263 rushing yards, 12 touchdowns, and four 100+ rushing games. Plus, fantasy owners were happy with him with 199.40 fantasy points in the regular season. Having quarterback Tom Brady snapping to you is something to boast about as well. Snag him the moment you have a chance. You will not regret it.
2013 Stat Projections: 1,300 rushing yards, 14 rushing touchdowns, 100 receiving yards, and three touchdowns.
In Comparison
Both players are good to have on your team, that’s for certain. However comparing these two the answer is pretty obvious. Stevan Ridley over Frank Gore. The injury to Gore worries me, but on top of that, his age and lack of speed does as well. Ridley will give you fantasy points and bring you to the top of your fantasy league. Thank me later.
