Andrew Luck, Quarterback, Indianapolis Colts
Luck without a doubt, was the worst fantasy football player anyone could have had in their fantasy lineup in Week 16. Did the overall No. 1 ranked fantasy football player really reward just .36 fantasy points just when you needed him most to clinch your championship game or further your team into playoffs? He certainly did. Luck was just pitiful in what should have been a high-scoring game versus the Dallas Cowboys in Week 16. After passing for only 109 yards and throwing two interceptions, Luck was benched in the third quarter, crushing fantasy teams and dreams everywhere.
Matthew Stafford, Quarterback, Detroit Lions
While Stafford didn’t produce quite as badly as Luck, he surely contributed towards ruining any chances of advancing you in your fantasy playoffs. Passing for 243 yards with two touchdowns doesn’t sound too awful, however, throw in the two interceptions he had and the result was a lousy 5.92 fantasy points. For those who thought Stafford would light things up like he did a few weeks ago when he played against Chicago earning 20-plus fantasy points, he came up extremely short and his fantasy owners paid dearly.
Kyle Orton, Quarterback, Buffalo Bills
Orton played surprisingly well in Week 16, which probably fouled up fantasy owners who were playing against him in this playoff week. Coming off of a 3.9 point performance last week, had those going up against Orton thinking he might drop another bomb. That certainly didn’t happen as Orton presented his second-best performance of the season, earning 21.6 fantasy points, ranking him eighth best among his fellow quarterbacks. Worse yet, perhaps you destroyed your own fantasy hopes by leaving Orton on your bench, starting someone such as Luck instead. We all know how well that went.
Jamaal Charles, Running Back, Kansas City Chiefs
Charles has been extremely disappointing as of late as he put up another stinker of a fantasy performance in Week 16. The 5.7 fantasy points Charles rewarded certainly didn’t contribute to anyone winning their playoffs this week. The Chiefs unfortunately fell behind to Pittsburgh, forcing them to throw the ball and abandon the run game. For those who are still playing fantasy football next week, Charles faces the San Diego Chargers where he should be on course to rebound.
Le’Veon Bell, Running Back, Pittsburgh Steelers
While Bell wasn’t the worst among his class in Week 16, he definitely dropped off drastically in production in Week 16, just as fantasy owners were counting on him most. Earning just 13.2 fantasy points in Sunday’s win against Kansas City didn’t exactly help anyone advance further into playoffs. After four high-end chart topping weeks of stud production, Bell left his fantasy owners short-changed in Week 16.
Justin Forsett, Running Back, Baltimore Ravens
Forsett has been on a downward spiral as of late, and Week 16 wasn’t the week his fantasy owners needed him to cough up his worst performance of the season. Only managing 32 total yards in a staggering loss to the Houston Texans had slightly hobbled Forsett barely registering into fantasy relevance adding only 3.2 fantasy points to his owners’ scores. After two horrible performances, Forsett makes a dicey starting option against Cleveland in Week 17.
Calvin Johnson, Wide Receiver, Detroit Lions
Johnson ranked a lowly 24th among his fellow wide receivers in Week 16 which was definitely not what his owners needed to win in their fantasy playoffs. Only catching six of his 12 attempted passes, Johnson racked up 103 yards, but went scoreless in a victory over Chicago. The 10.3 fantasy points Johnson earned, were nowhere near to those he scored three weeks ago when blasted the Bears for 26.6 points, scoring two touchdowns along the way. Hopefully, Johnson gets out of his funk and puts up a winning performance in Week 17 against Green Bay.
Mike Evans, Wide Receiver, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Evans should have had a major game against the Green Bay Packers who have allowed the sixth-most fantasy points and eight touchdowns to wide receivers over the last four weeks. Instead, Evans fell flat and surely didn’t help anyone in their fantasy playoffs in Week 16. Scrounging up only 4.9 fantasy points for the 49 yards Evans achieved in a terrible loss to Green Bay, probably deems him to bench status in Week 17.
