Fantasy Football Review: #97, Chad Henne

Chad Henne, Quarterback, Jacksonville Jaguars (No. 97).

At the start of the season I predicted Henne would be the Jaguars' starting quarterback when all was said and done. The reason I came to this conclusion was because of my lack of confidence in Blaine Gabbert

He did average 15 fantasy points in his final seven games. For comparison sake, that is more than Matt Schaub, Philip Rivers and Jay Cutler

His best performance of the season came in a Week 11 loss to the Houston Texans. Henne tallied 354 passing yards and four touchdowns in route to a whopping 30.9 fantasy points. He followed that up with a solid 16-point performance against the Tennessee Titans the next week.

The veteran quarterback did average 250 passing yards and 1.4 scores in his eight outings. The former represents solid fantasy numbers, while the latter needs to be improved on if Henne ever hopes to be a viable option, even as a QB2 caliber player.

Moving forward, I want to see how the offseason plays out. Will Jacksonville stick with Henne under center? Will it go with Gabbert for another season? Maybe the Jaguars decide to draft another quarterback for Henne and Gabbert to compete with. Either way, Henne doesn't offer a whole heck of a lot in Jacksonville.

Henne is set to earn $4.1 million next season. If he isn't in the Jaguars plans, they could make the decision to either trade or release him. If that is the case, Henne's fantasy value might increase a bit, depending on where he goes. Another offense with more weapons could afford the veteran with a better chance at statistical success.

Either way, don't even think about Henne in keeper or standard drafts. Instead, look to pick him up on the waiver wire if he gets a starting gig somewhere and starts producing at a higher level.

Next Up: Willis McGahee, Running Back, Denver Broncos (No. 96).
