Fantasy Football Slant: Studs & Duds From Friday's Week 2 Preseason Action

Stud: Bryce Petty, Quarterback, New York Jets

Coming off a preseason debut that saw him tally just 50 yards on 18 pass attempts, this rookie fourth-round pick decided to open it up a bit more Friday night against the Atlanta Falcons. Including a 13-yard scoring strike to DeVier Posey, the Baylor product completed 12-of-19 passes for 168 yards and a score. While it won't be enough to unseat Ryan Fitzpatrick as the starter in Geno Smith's stead, it may give the Jets something to think about should Fitzpatrick struggle out of the gate.

Dud: Robert Turbin, Running Back, Seattle Seahawks

It appears that Seattle might have to hit the free-agent market for a backup to Marshawn Lynch. Neither Turbin or Christine Michael are performing well this summer. Turbin, a fourth-round pick back in 2012, put up just four yards on six attempts. Some of this might have to do with horrendous run-blocking on the offensive line, but Turbin just doesn't seem to be capable of performing at a high level in the NFL. That has to be worrisome to Pete Carroll and company.

Stud: Justin Hardy, Wide Receiver, Atlanta Falcons

Following up a preseason debut that saw him catch three passes for 41 yards against the Tennessee Titans, Hardy was back at it again on Friday. Getting some first-team reps, the East Carolina product tallied four receptions for 53 yards on six targets, including a 31-yard reception from T.J. Yates. Based on Hardy's performance thus far during preseason and training camp, there is a real good chance he will be the team's No. 3 receiver when Week 1 comes calling.

Dud: Alex Smith, Quarterback, Kansas City Chiefs

So much for throwing over the top with success. Smith, already entrenched in as the Chiefs' starting quarterback, completed just 11-of-18 passes for 81 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He also accounted for Seattle's only touchdown of the game—a 25-yard pick-six by All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner. The sad truth here is that Smith has become fantasy irrelevant.

Stud: Chris Ivory, New York Jets

With an ADP in the seventh round, Ivory's stock is surely going to rise after his performance Friday night. The leader in the clubhouse for the Jets' starting running back job, Ivory was darn impressive. He gained 36 yards and a score on five touches while playing against the Falcons' first-team defense. Here's someone to definitely keep an eye on as a possible RB2 option.

Stud: Chase Daniel, Quarterback Kansas City Chiefs

Once again, Daniel showed up and played stellar preseason football at home against the Seattle Seahawks on Friday. Completing 8-of-12 passes for 82 yards and a score in the outing, Kansas City's backup signal now boasts four scores and zero interceptions for a ridiculous 139.0 quarterback rating through two preseason games. He will definitely be someone to keep an eye on in both DFS and standard leagues should Alex Smith go down with an injury. Until then, he'll remain the team's preseason star.

Stud: Jimmy Graham, Tight End, Seattle Seahawks

Any thought of Graham struggling to build a strong relationship with Russell Wilson was thrown out the window on Friday. The Pro Bowl tight end caught all three passes thrown in his direction for 39 yards, including a beautiful 21-yard reception down the seam. With an ADP that makes him the second tight end off the board (third round), Graham's stock is firm there.
