It really is hard to gauge where each NFL teams stands on the defensive side of the ball through three weeks. You have to take a look at what offense each team played in the first three games more than you have to look at total point output. That is what I plan on doing today when I rank the top-20 fantasy football defenses in the league through the initial three weeks of the season.
Without further ado, let's take a look.
| Team | Turnovers | PPG |
| 1. Seattle Seahawks | 4 | 13.0 |
| 2. Arizona Cardinals | 6 | 13.3 |
| 3. San Francisco 49ers | 4 | 21.7 |
| 4. Houston Texans | 6 | 14.0 |
| 5. Chicago Bears | 9 | 15.7 |
| 6. Atlanta Falcons | 10 | 16.0 |
| 7. Green Bay Packers | 4 | 18.0 |
| 8. Philadelphia Eagles | 6 | 22.0 |
| 9. New York Jets | 6 | 25.0 |
| 10. Minnesota Vikings | 4 | 19.7 |
| 11. Dallas Cowboys | 3 | 18.0 |
| 12. Baltimore Ravens | 6 | 22.3 |
| 13. Buffalo Bills | 6 | 26.3 |
| 14. Cleveland Browns | 7 | 25.0 |
| 15. New York Giants | 8 | 21.7 |
| 16. Denver Broncos | 3 | 25.7 |
| 17. Pittsburgh Steelers | 3 | 25.0 |
| 18. St. Louis Rams | 5 | 26.0 |
| 19. San Diego Chargers | 3 | 17.0 |
| 20. New England Patriots | 5 | 21.3 |
Again, these numbers don't mean a whole lot in the grand scheme of things. For example, San Francisco had to take on the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions in their first two games. Meanwhile, Denver had the honor of playing the Pittsburgh Steelers, Atlanta Falcons and Houston Texans in their first three games.
We will have a much better gauge following six or seven weeks. Check back then!
