With the legal tampering period for NFL free agency set to start Tuesday, the rumors are coming in fast and heavy. Soon enough, these rumors will give way to free agents actually inking new deals and trades becoming official.
The league's new year, free agency included, starts on Thursday.
It's in this that we look at the top fantasy football-relevant rumors heading into free agency itself.
Five Teams Show Interest in Terrelle Pryor
Probably the second-best free agent receiver behind Alshon Jeffery, it shouldn't be a surprise that this former quarterback is drawing interest leading up to Thursday. According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the Tennessee Titans, San Francisco 49ers, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers are all interested in last year's breakout star.
Pryor, in his first full-time role as a receiver last season, put up 77 receptions for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns for the one-win Cleveland Browns. Despite the Browns' struggles on offense, this enabled him to finish as the 16th-best fantasy receiver.
Of the teams mentioned, Philadelphia and Tennessee would likely represent the best fantasy bounce for Pryor. Both teams have franchise quarterbacks in the form of Carson Wentz and Marcus Mariota respectively. Pryor would also come in and be either team's No. 1 receiver.
Buccaneers Frontrunners for DeSean Jackson
Set to demand $12-plus million on the open market, Jackson will be a highly-sought option in free agency. He's coming off yet another 1,000-yard season and lead the league with 17.9 yards per catch for Washington in 2016.
Multiple reports have linked Jackson to the Buccaneers, who are in need of a No. 2 receiver behind Mike Evans. Given Jackson's down-field ability and Jameis Winston's arm talent, this seems to make a ton of sense. Should Jackson land with the Bucs, he'll continue being a WR2 option with top-12 upside.
Titans Lead the Pack in Trade Talks for Brandin Cooks
The New Orleans Saints are looking to trade young receiver Brandin Cooks. That much is already known. It was already reported that New Orleans turned down an offer from the New England Patriots for a package that would have included the defending champ's first-round pick (32nd overall).
Boasting the fifth and 18th overall picks in this year's draft, Tennessee has an ability to offer New Orleans a bounty for Cooks. That would likely include the second of their two first-round picks. It now appears that the Titans, who are all over the place when it comes to adding a No. 1 target for Mariota, may be in the lead here.
Much like Pryor above, Cooks' value in the fantasy football world would take a jump if he were to land with a team like the Titans.
While New Orleans' offense is the most pass happy in the NFL, Cooks has had to view with Michael Thomas and Willie Snead for targets. That wouldn't be an issue in Tennessee. Cook, a three-year pro out of Oregon State, is coming off a 2016 campaign that saw him put up 78 receptions for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns.
Despite the fact that he finished 24th among receivers in targets, this enabled Cooks to put up the ninth-most fantasy points at that position.
Same Group of Teams Interested in Alshon Jeffery
By now it's already known which teams are targeting upgrades at wide receiver. This list obviously includes San Francisco, Philadelphia and Tennessee. We can add Jeffery to the list of impending free agents these squads are interested in.
Though, Jeffery reportedly had a good meeting with his Chicago Bears during the NFL Scouting Combine this past weekend. Both sides seem to be open to him returning.
With that said, even money still has to be on Jeffery leaving Chicago after two substandard seasons that culminated in him being suspended for four game this past year after violating the league's PED policy.
Jeffery is the No. 1 free agent receiver on the market and will demand a huge payday. Remember, here's a guy that put up over 2,500 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2013-14 combined. He's a WR1 option depending on the situation he lands in.
