Fantasy Football Week 11: Sit These 3 Quarterbacks

In most fantasy football leagues, there are only three or four weeks left in the regular season. That means every matchup matters, from your team as a whole to individual playoff matchups. In order to win the quarterback matchup this week, avoid starting these three guys, especially with the list of healthy and reliable quarterbacks getting smaller and smaller.

Tom Brady, New England Patriots

Brady owners will be back on the bandwagon after his strong showing against the Pittsburgh Steelers two weeks ago heading into New England’s bye week, but be hesitant in starting him in Week 11. Brady will be facing the Carolina Panthers, who are giving up the fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season (only allowing just over eight points per game). Having Rob Gronkowski back helps Brady certainly, but prior to the Pats’ Week 9 matchup against the Steelers, Brady had a 3:2 touchdown to interception ratio, and had posted three games of single-digit fantasy points. He could break 12 or 13 points this week, but that still leaves a good number of quarterbacks ahead of Brady.

Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco 49ers

Kaepernick has been a tricky play this season regardless of the week. When Kaepernick plays well, the 49ers win. But when he plays poorly, the entire team seems to slump. In wins this season, Kaepernick has completed 60.8 percent of his passes, according to ESPN, but that number falls to 48.1 percent in losses. In San Fancisco’s three losses this season, Kaepernick has thrown zero touchdowns and five interceptions. Obviously, a team’s chances of losing decrease if its quarterback struggles, but he difference in Kapernick’s stats are staggering. The chances of the 49ers winning on Sunday are low to begin with against the Seattle Seahawks, arguably one fo the top three teams in the NFL right now. Seattle is allowing just 10.1 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, so owners can expect Kaepernick to have one of his “off” games.

Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals

Dalton had a nice game on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens after slumping in Week 9 during Cincy’s Thursday night game that week. In Week 10, Dalton scored 18 fantasy points, his sixth game of 16 or more fantasy points. But he has a tough matchup in Week 11 against the Cleveland Browns, who have the 10th best passing defenses in the league. Cleveland is at the middle of the pack in terms of fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks, but the last time Dalton played the Browns, he only completed 54.8 percent of his passes for 206 yards and no touchdowns, while throwing an interception. Cleveland has one of the better defenses in the league, and cornerback Joe Haden is likely to take away A.J. Green from Dalton for most of this game.
