Fantasy Football Week 13: Ranking the Quarterbacks

1. Andrew Luck, Indianapolis Colts (WSH)

Once again on Sunday, Washington’s secondary couldn’t hold up, failing to keep a tie against the 49ers and allowing Colin Kaepernick to throw for 256 yards. In the past three games, David Amerson, Trenton Robinson, E.J. Biggers and Bashaud Breeland have all allowed passer ratings of over 100 to their opponents, per Pro Football Focus. Besides the fact that Luck has been one of the two best fantasy quarterback this season, he’ll go off against an awful Washington defense.

Projected Statistics: 290 yards, four touchdowns

2. Peyton Manning, Denver Broncos (KC)

After I expected Manning to take a step back against a good Miami Dolphins defense, he threw for four touchdowns. However, I think Luck will do just that much better this week. Still, Manning is a lock to be in the top three once again. Julius Thomas could return, and even without him, Manning had four touchdowns last week, even getting Wes Welker involved again.

Projected Statistics: 240 yards, four touchdowns

3. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers (NE)

Rodgers didn’t go off for 30 points against last week versus the Minnesota Vikings, but he’s still one of the three best fantasy quarterbacks. Prior to last week, Rodgers had scored at least 24 points in each of his past five games and he and Tom Brady will likely get in a shootout on Sunday. You’re using Rodgers no matter what, obviously, but likely won’t be able to throw all over the Patriots like Luck and Manning will in their games.

Projected Statistics: 260 yards, four touchdowns, one interception

4. Tom Brady, New England Patriots (GB)

Every time I think Brady is cooling off, he picks up steam once again. The Lions are the best defense in the league, and Brady still scored 19 fantasy points. He should find similar success against  Packers defense that is pretty lacking in the secondary. He has at least two touchdowns in every game since Week 5, and the Jonas Gray rushing show was over as soon as it began, putting Brady back in the driver’s seat of the offense.

Projected Statistics: 320 yards, three touchdowns, one interception

5. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints (PIT)

Despite Brees’ relatively down year, he’s on pace to approach 5,000 yards still and had at least 17 points in four of his past five fantasy games enter Monday night’s game. Pittsburgh is allowing just over 241 passing yards per game and has allowed 19 touchdowns in 11 games. There’s certainly no reason to stop using Brees this week.

Projected Statistics: 370 yards, two touchdowns

6. Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions (CHI)

For owners starting down a Carson Palmer injury still or you’re looking to sneak into the playoffs, and your league’s trade deadline hasn’t already passed, buy low on Stafford. He plays the Bears twice, the Vikings once and the Buccaneers once in his last five games. It frankly might not get easier than that for a quarterback. That stretch starts off with the Bears, who are allowing the fourth most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, according to our fantasy against rankings (paid subscription required). Stafford could have the best game of his career this weekend.

Projected Statistics: 350 yards, two touchdowns, one interception

7. Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers (NO)

After going on a total tear, Roethlisberger cooled off in his two games before Pittsburgh’s bye week against the Jets and Titans, scoring a combined 23 points between the two games, which is a single game for Peyton Manning. Prior to that, Roethlisberger had games of 44 and 35 points. This matchup will be somewhere in the middle facing a Saints defense that is allowing over 17 points per game to opposing quarterbacks.

Projected Statistics: 270 yards, three touchdowns, one interception

8. Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys (PHI)

In a Thanksgiving matchup, Romo could play his team into a division lead. In his 10 starts (plus the game he left early with a back injury), Romo has at least seven games with either 300 yards or two touchdowns, according to our consistency metrics. Philadelphia has also quietly allowed the second most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, and Romo will be chucking it a lot to Dez Bryant in this one.

Projected Statistics: 280 yards, three touchdowns, two interceptions

9. Ryan Tannehill, Miami Dolphins (NYJ)

Since Miami’s Week 5 bye, Tannehill has three games of 23 or more points, and five games of 16 or more points. The offense is clicking at the right time, and he’s facing the Jets, the worst team against quarterbacks this year.

Projected Statistics: 260 yards, two touchdowns

10. Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks (SF)

Wilson’s rushing production has made him a top seven or so fantasy quarterback in past weeks, but gets a slight downgrade against a very good front seven in San Francisco. Wilson has had at least 71 rushing yards in each of his past three games, but the 49ers have allowed just 73 rushing yards to quarterbacks all year. Wilson will have to throw more in this one, and I’m not sure how productive he’ll be doing that.

Projected Statistics: 190 yards, two touchdowns, five carries, 30 rushing yards
