Week 12 is officially in the books. This week we were treated to three thrilling games on Thanksgiving, as well as some intense match-ups that went down to the wire, and a few high-scoring blowouts. Hopefully you heeded my advice and picked up Bryce Brown and T.Y. Hilton, who had huge fantasy weeks.
We’re getting down to the wire now, and good late-season pickups are getting harder to find. These four players should provide a big boost to help you make that playoff push:
1. Mohamed Sanu, Wide Receiver, Cincinnati Bengals
Sanu has been a decent fantasy receiver all season, averaging just over six points per week. In the last three weeks however, he has really emerged as a number three option and red zone threat for quarterback Andy Dalton, averaging 11.5 points per week. Sanu had his biggest game of the year on Sunday, catching five passes for 29 yards and two touchdowns; good for 15 fantasy points. Sanu is currently owned in only one percent of leagues, and should be a very popular waiver wire pick-up this week.
2. Chris Givens, Wide Receiver, St. Louis Rams
Despite averaging 7 fantasy points per week this season, and being very solid since Week five, Givens is owned in less than two percent of all leagues. He had his biggest fantasy week yet, collecting 15 receptions, for 105 yards and one touchdown; good for 18 points. As long as Danny Amendola continues to struggle with injury, Givens should see the bulk of targets from quarterback Sam Bradford.
3. Marcel Reece, Running Back, Oakland Raiders
Reece is averaging seven fantasy points per week this season. With recent injuries to running backs Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson, the former fullback Reese has stepped up big over the last four weeks, averaging 14 fantasy points per week. As long as McFadden and Goodson are out or limited by injury, look for Reece to continue to eat up yardage. He is owned in a little less than 50 percent of all leagues currently, so if he’s still available in yours; get a claim in right away!
4. Cecil Shorts, Wide Receiver, Jacksonville Jaguars
Shorts has been having a great season, quietly averaging 10 fantasy points per week and ranked 17th best in the NFL; yet he’s only owned in about 50 percent of all leagues. Shorts has had seven weeks in double digit fantasy points, and is averaging 13 points over the last six weeks. With the emergence of Chad Henne, Shorts has established himself as a dependable number one target, and should continue to put up big numbers if Henne continues to be effective.
While Reece and Shorts have been on the fantasy football radar for a few weeks now, Sanu and Givens are about to blow up. Get your claims in early and hope you have a solid spot in the wavier order. Until next week, good luck!
