1. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers (ATL)
In his past four games, Rodgers has thrown a combined 13 touchdowns and no interceptions. There’s no reason for him to not be the No. 1 fantasy quarterback from here on out. It doesn’t make much sense to pull hairs between the top four guys at this point, because no one owns two of them, but for daily leagues, Rodgers is the safest pick, considering he plays the Falcons, who are allowing the 13th most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, according to our fantasy against rankings.
Projected Statistics: 340 yards, five touchdowns
2. Andrew Luck, Indianapolis Colts (CLE)
I was rewarded last week for having Luck as my No. 1 quarterback, and think he can be just as successful this week against a shaky Browns defense, but there’s certainly more talent in Cleveland’s secondary than Washington’s. Still, Luck has 25 or more fantasy points in six games this season and is fourth among all quarterbacks in passer rating.
Projected Statistics: 360 yards, four touchdowns
3. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints (CAR)
Besides a 14-point game in Week 11, Brees has really come on for fantasy purposes following his Week 6 bye. Brees is still fifth among all quarterbacks in passing touchdowns and is seventh in passer rating. He also got by just fine against the Ravens without using Jimmy Graham. In this matchup with the Panthers, who allow the seventh most points to opposing quarterbacks, Brees likely won’t ignore Graham for two straight games, and Kenny Stills could easily go deep again for another score.
Projected Statistics: 250 yards, five touchdowns
4. Peyton Manning, Denver Broncos (BUF)
The Bills have been very tough to quarterbacks this season, but Manning is Manning. Like the other top four guys, there’s no way you’re not using him this week, plain and simple.
Projected Statistics: 390 yards, three touchdowns
5. Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys (CHI)
Romo moves in to the top five this week, facing a Bears defense that allows the second most fantasy points to opposing quarterback, only below Washington. Romo had a very tough game on Thanksgiving, only scoring three fantasy points, but in the two games before that, he combined to score 46 fantasy points. He’ll rebound nicely against a very forgiving Chicago defense.
Projected Statistics: 380 yards, three touchdowns, one interception
6. Tom Brady, New England Patriots (SD)
Brady has now come back to Earth after scoring at least 20 fantasy points between Weeks 5 and 9, but is still a top 10 quarterback from here on out. Since his Week 10 bye, he’s thrown two touchdowns in each start, and the Chargers have allowed 20 passing touchdowns this year. With quarterback this season, it’s really a toss-up after the top four guys, but Brady has been so consistent he deserves to be toward the top.
Projected Statistics: 330 yards, three touchdowns
7. Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks (PHI)
Most likely, you aren’t in a position to sit Wilson (unless you are a Tannehill owner), but this week, owners can feel pretty good about starting him. Even against a tough 49ers defense, he posted 16 fantasy points, and he has a much easier matchup in the Eagles this week, who are allowing the fourth most fantasy points to quarterbacks.
Projected Statistics: 250 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, five carries, 40 rushing yards
8. Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions (TB)
I generally don’t like to go back on my picks and hand-pick things to discuss that I got right and wrong, but I was particularly happy with my Stafford upgrade last week. He had the third best fantasy performance of his season, and should carry over that success to the Bucs, who have been much better on defense as of late. Still, Calvin Johnson seems to be the Megatron of old after catching two touchdowns against the Bears. Stafford will clearly hinder his value with all the turnovers he gives up, but he’ll find success on just an average Tampa Bay pass defense.
Projected Statistics: 390 yards, two touchdowns, one interception
9. Ryan Tannehill, Miami Dolphins (BAL)
I’m writing this prior to the start of the Monday night game, so Tannehill could totally bomb against the Jets, but I still like his chances next week at home with Baltimore coming to town. The Ravens are going off of a secondary that has basically been rebuilt over the past three weeks. Their corners imploded late against Rivers and the Chargers on Sunday, losing their chance to get a step up on the Browns and Steelers in the AFC North. Tannehill won’t have a better matchup until Week 17 when he faces the Jets again.
Projected Statistics: 280 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, five carries, 25 rushing yards
10. Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers (CIN)
Big Ben seemed to have a problem with his throwing hand early on in the Saints game Sunday, but he worked through it and ended with a strong fantasy day despite having to spent a drive entirely handing the ball off with his left hand. He was helped by a last-second garbage time touchdown to Antonio Brown, but he still threw for 435 yards. As long as his hand heals up over the course of this week, there’s no reason to think he and Brown won’t connect for a long score or two.
Projected Statistics: 330 yards, three touchdowns, two interceptions
