Fantasy Football Week 2: Ranking the Running Backs

1. Giovani Bernard, Cincinnati Bengals (ATL)

Bernard is slated for huge outing against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2. Last week the Falcons allowed 119 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns, and that was to a blend of Saints running backs. Bernard should get the lion’s share of the carries and reward some top-notch fantasy points this week. Start him in your lineups with confidence.

Projected Statistics: 105 rushing yards, 33 receiving yards, two touchdowns

2. Arian Foster, Houston Texans (OAK)

The Oakland Raiders allowed 31.70 fantasy points to scored against them last week by the Jets running backs. This is Foster we’re talking about here, who should be in for a monster of a day in Week 2. Foster won’t share many carries in this matchup, so expect big results from him in this favorable matchup.

Projected Statistics: 110 rushing yards, 18 receiving yards, one touchdown

3. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings (NE)

Last week the New England Patriots generously allowed 193 yards on the ground split between the Dolphins running backs. Peterson is practically a one-man show on the ground, and should have a field day all to himself at home against New England. Look for him to bring you the bank this week.

Projected Statistics: 95 rushing yards, 15 receiving yards, one touchdown

4. Marshawn Lynch, Seattle Seahawks (SD)

The Seahawks travel to San Diego to face the Chargers, who just allowed over 140 ground and aerial yards to the Cardinals’ running backs. “Beastmode” should have no problem melting through the Chargers’ defense and putting up some high-end RB1 numbers his fantasy owners love to receive. Sit back and enjoy.

Projected Statistics: 90 rushing yards, 12 receiving yards, one touchdown

5. LeSean McCoy, Philadelphia Eagles, (IND)

McCoy is poised an awesome fantasy performance against in Indiana this week in Monday Night Football. The Colts had a difficult time containing Montee Ball last week, allowing 94 yards on the ground alone. McCoy should have no trouble at all blasting through the Colts’ secondary and racking up some sweet fantasy points along the way.

Projected Statistics: 78 rushing yards 20 receiving yards, one touchdown

6. Matt Forte, Chicago Bears (SF)

Forte is in line for a generous fantasy outing against at San Francisco in Week 2. The 49ers let DeMarco Murray pummel them last week, racking up 118 yards on the ground. This should be a high-scoring affair between two powerful offenses, so look for Forte to reward RB1 fantasy numbers with ease.

Projected Statistics: 67 rushing yards, 30 receiving yards, one touchdown

7. Jamaal Charles, Kansas City Chiefs (DEN)

Charles fell into somewhat of an abyss last week against Tennessee, so look for him to rebound against Denver in Week 2, as he is clearly the best offensive weapon the Chiefs will have to fight for a win against the Broncos. Allowing 101 receiving yards to the Colts’ running backs last week, watch for Charles to catch a lot of short passes, and do some damage on the ground as well.

Projected Statistics: 55 rushing yards, 35 receiving yards, one touchdown

8. Frank Gore, San Francisco 49ers (CHI)

Look for Gore to reap the benefits of playing against Chicago, who let the Bills running backs destroy them on the ground last week. Gore should remain solid and have room to roam free against the Bears, tallying up some awesome fantasy points along the way.

Projected Statistics: 88 rushing yards, one touchdown

9. Montee Ball, Denver Broncos (KC)

The Kansas City Chiefs allowed 148 yards on the ground last week, so Ball should not disappoint his fantasy owners in Week 2 with another dazzling performance. Even in his pass-happy environment, the Broncos will find their opportunities to showcase their second-year running back. Start Ball and enjoy the fantasy points he rewards.

Projected Statistics: 75 rushing yards, 10 receiving yards, one touchdown

10. Andre Ellington, Arizona Cardinals (NYG)

Ellington, who surprised many and suited up for Monday Night Football, has a favorable matchup against the New York Giants, who let the Detroit Lions’ running backs run amuck and  score 18.80 fantasy points against them. Ellington should receive most of the carries and some receptions in his Week 2 outing, racking up some substantial fantasy points along the way.

Projected Statistics: 58 rushing yards, 20 receiving yards, one touchdown
