Fantasy Football Week 2: Ranking the Wide Receivers

1.) A.J. Green, Cincinnati Bengals vs. Atlanta Falcons

Green straight up abused the Ravens secondary last week in Baltimore, I’m sure we’ve all seen what happened to Darian Stewart.  This week he’s going up against a Falcons secondary that gave up 300+ passing yards to Drew Brees and the Saints last week.  The Falcons couldn’t handle rookie Brandin Cooks, I like Green going for gold.

Projected Stats: seven catches 130 yards and two touchdowns

2.) Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions @ Carolina Panthers

Johnson is dominant and is hands down the best receiver in the game.  Last week he easily disposed of the Giants secondary coming away with 164 yards and two highlight touchdowns.  I have him behind Green because I respect the Panthers defense and they’ll put up more of a fight than the Giants.  Johnson will still get his numbers but it  won’t be as easy.

Projected Stats: Nine catches 120 yards and two touchdown

3.) Jordy Nelson, Green Bay Packers vs. New York Jets

Nelson will be the most targeted receiver this week just as he was last week hauling in nine catches in Seattle.  This week they face the Jets secondary that has yet to prove themselves.  It’s a given that Aaron Rodgers and the Packers will let it fly and Nelson will be on the receiving end for a good amount of those plays.

Projected Stats: Eight catches 110 yards and two touchdown

4.)Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons @ Cincinnati Bengals

Matt Ryan sure did come out the gates hot with that career game last week.  Jones is his best receiver and probably the teams best player as a whole.  Last week he played well but didn’t find the End-zone.  I expect for him and Ryan to link up on a deep ball this week against the Bengals.

Projected Stats: Five catches 110 yards and one touchdown

5.) Percy Harvin, Seattle Seahawks @ San Diego Chargers

Harvin will get a lot of touches and not just in the passing game making him that much dangerous.  The Chargers defense played well against the Cardinals but its hard to keep tabs on Harvin with him lining up all over the place.  Got him making at least a big play or two.

Projected Stats:  10 Catches 70 yards receiving 35 yards rushing one touchdown

6.) Demaryius Thomas, Denver Broncos vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Thomas should be up at the top with Green and Johnson but he had a tough outing in week one versus the Colts.  Vontae Davis played extremely well limiting Thomas to four catches and 48 yards.  Unfortunately for Thomas is doesn’t get much easier this week in Kansas City, but with Wes Welker out they need to get their playmakers the ball.

Projected Stats: Seven catches 90 yards and one touchdown

7.) Vincent Jackson, Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. St. Louis Rams

Jackson is one of the best receivers in the league but I still don’t have a lot of faith in the offense around him.  Perfect example in week one he was shut down against the Carolina Panthers.  This week however the savvy veteran is facing a young unproven Rams secondary.  I like his chances to get on track this week.

Projected Stats: Six catches  90 yards and one touchdown

8.) Andre Johnson, Houston Texans @ Oakland Raiders

DeAndre Hopkins stole the show in week one scoring the Texans only offensive touchdown on the day.  But the true number one in Houston will be featured in this weeks game against a young Raiders secondary.  Johnson will no doubt find pay dirt in this weeks game.

Projected Stats: Five Catches 85 yards and one touchdown

9.) Randall Cobb, Green Bay Packers vs. New York Jets

Cobb played very well in Seattle last week and I’m sure Rodgers is happy to have him back at 100% after last season.  He’s this teams number one playmaker and he can score from anywhere on the field.  He won’t get as many touches as I would like because of Nelson but he makes the most out of the ones he gets.

Projected Stats: Four Catches 85 yards and one touchdown

10.) Pierre Garcon, Washington Redskins vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

I expect much of the same from Garcon with a touchdown added in.  The Redskins made in clear against Houston the Garcon is still the top dog in Washington and they will feed him the ball.  He’s coming off a 10 catch game where he didn’t find the end zone.  Against a weak Jaguars secondary I expect him to find pay dirt in this weeks game.

Projected Stats: 10 Catches 85 yards and one touchdown
