Dak Prescott, Quarterback, Dallas Cowboys
Prescott has been darn amazing thus far in his young career. The rookie now boasts the NFL record for the most passes attempted without an interception (75) to start his career. He's completing 63 percent of his passes and averaging 11 yards per completion. On Sunday against Washington, Prescott completed 22-of-30 passes for 292 yards. He added a rushing touchdown.
If you're in a 12-team league, it's hard to imagine 24 other quarterbacks that possess as much upside as Prescott over the short term. That's until Tony Romo returns from injury.
Tony Romo, Quarterback, Dallas Cowboys
Romo got some throwing in prior to Sunday's game against the Redskins. His medicals over the weekend also looked really good. While the Cowboys wouldn't be smart to rush the veteran back, he will be the starter in Dallas when healthy. And when Romo has been on the field, he's acted as a QB1 option throughout the vast majority of his career. If you're in a pinch at quarterback, maybe attempt to add Prescott this week and go with Romo on the waiver wire following Week 3.
Christine Michael, Running Back, Seattle Seahawks
With Thomas Rawls hobbled due to yet another foot injury, it's becoming increasingly evident that the Seahawks will be going with a committee approach in the backfield. Though, one has to wonder if Michael is simply the better option right now. Seattle has struggled with balance on offense through two games, especially when Michael has not been on the field. When he's touched the ball, the former draft bust had been darn good. He put up 60 yards on 10 attempts Sunday against Los Angeles and has tallied 157 total yards on 30 touches through two games.
Jay Ajayi, Running Back, Miami Dolphins
While we aren't necessarily sold on Ajayi in Miami (his lost fumble Sunday didn't help), it's becoming increasingly evident that the Dolphins simply can't rely on the injury plagued Arian Foster. He entered Sunday's game with a hamstring injury, and departed the game after suffering a groin injury. This just adds to a laundry list of issues that has seen him miss 50 percent of his team's games over the past three-plus seasons.
For his part, Ajayi might be in line for a bounce simply due to an increased amount of touches. He put up 55 yards on nine touches against the New England Patriots on Sunday after being a healthy inactive in Week 1.
Jerick McKinnon, Running Back, Minnesota Vikings
We don't yet know the full extent of the injury Adrian Peterson suffered Sunday night, but there are reports that he could have suffered some structural damage to the knee. Even if it isn't a torn ACL or MCL, Peterson will likely miss substantial time.
Enter into the equation a running back in McKinnon who is averaging nearly five yards per rush during his two-plus seasons in the NFL. When given an opportunity, he's proven himself to be more than up for the task. Add in 48 receptions in his first two seasons, and there's a nice amount of PPR value here.
Tyrell Williams, Wide Receiver, San Diego Chargers
Big play WIlliams right here. Williams has put up 132 yards on five receptions in two games. That's an absurd average in limited playing time. While there should be some concern over his reception numbers, a season-ending injury to Keenan Allen has Williams playing a huge role on offense. Add in a potentially serious injury to Danny Woodhead, and Williams' targets numbers should increase as the season progresses.
Quincy Enunwa, Wide Receiver, New York Jets
This third-year receiver has caught 13-of-14 passes thrown in his direction in the first two games of the season. In fact, he hauled in all six of his targets for nearly 100 yards against the Buffalo Bills last week. With Brandon Marshall dealing with a potentially serious MCL injury, Enunwa's role may increase moving forward this season. That's some absolutely huge news for those of you intrigued by him as a fantasy-relevant option this season.
Vance McDonald, Tight End, San Francisco 49ers
Three receptions in two games. The NFL's seventh-best fantasy tight end in the NFL. The sample size is small. We get that. We also know just how tight end-friendly Chip Kelly's offense is. That's the biggest thing to look at here. Should McDonald continue to play a large role on the 49ers' offense, and no matter who is under center, he wil be fantasy relevant.
