1. Matt Forte, Chicago Bears (ATL)
Forte has been quite unstoppable the past couple of weeks and now in Week 6 he faces the Atlanta Falcons who have given up an average of 35.50 fantasy points per week to opposing running backs. Forte, with no other running backs stealing his touches should roam wild in this matchup. With wide receiver, Brandon Marshall nursing a lingering ankle injury, Forte’s touches have increased. Forte, who will easily breeze through the Falcons’ secondary will reward those top RB1 numbers for which he was drafted.
Projected Statistics: 95 rushing yards, 50 receiving yards, two touchdowns
2. Le’Veon Bell, Pittsburgh Steelers (CLE)
In Week 1, Bell sliced and diced Cleveland’s secondary scorching them for nearly 200 combined rushing and receiving yards. Bell has the pleasure of another Browns’ matchup in Week 6, where similar results should be produced. The Browns have allowed 100-plus total yards by running backs each week so far this season. Look for Bell to rack up some major yardage and make fantasy owners extremely happy in Week 6.
Projected Statistics: 115 rushing yards, 45 receiving yards, one touchdown
3. Arian Foster, Houston Texans (IND)
Foster, who showed no signs of any injuries which had been limiting to him earlier in the season went absolutely nuts on the ground last week. If Foster is once again this healthy in Week 6, he will be primed to do some more damage against the Colts defense who has allowed five rushing touchdowns this season. Being the best offensive weapon the Texans have and providing Foster remains in top form, should have him once again finishing Week with amazing numbers.
Projected Statistics: 110 rushing yards, 20 receiving yards, one touchdown
4. Marshawn Lynch, Seattle Seahawks (DAL)
Keeping in mind that the Dallas Cowboys were extremely generous to Foster last week, allowing over 170 total yards to him, should have Lynch owners salivating at this tasty matchup. Beastmode should have a field day bulldozing through the Cowboys’ weak ground patrol, especially on his home turf. Looks for a grand day out of Lynch in Week 6 as he rewards fantasy owners with some fabulous fantasy points.
Projected Statistics: 95 rushing yards, 35 receiving yards, one touchdown
5. Giovani Bernard, Cincinnati Bengals (CAR)
Week 6 brings Bernard and the Bengals home to face the Carolina Panthers. Bernard should have little trouble finding holes in the Panthers defense that ranks sixth-worst at stopping running backs. Allowing an average of 26 rushing plays per game will keep Bernard plenty busy and with ample opportunity to reward his fantasy owners some substantial yardage and perhaps a touchdown score.
Projected Statistics: 80 rushing yards, 40 receiving yards, one touchdown
6. Branden Oliver, San Diego Chargers (OAK)
Oliver, who will be the most coveted of waiver wire gems to acquire this week finds himself already up in the top 10 lineup due to a favorable matchup against the winless Oakland Raiders. We know the Raiders are not going to take the lead at any time against the hot Chargers’ offense, so this means lots of handoffs and rushing yards for Oliver to tally up in Week 6. Oliver went off the charts last week against Jacksonville and there’s no reason to believe his numbers will drop off in this sweet matchup.
Projected Statistics: 90 rushing yards, 25 receiving yards, one touchdown
7. Andre Williams, New York Giants (PHI)
Williams did a great job filling for the injured Rashad Jennings last week and resumes the starting role in Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles. With the rookie already having two rushing touchdowns on the books so far this season, look for Williams to produce well once again against an Eagles defense who have allowed the 10th most fantasy points to running backs in 2014. If you picked up Williams as a handcuff to Jennings, he’s a must start with this opportunistic matchup.
Projected Statistics: 80 rushing yards 20 receiving yards, one touchdown
8. DeMarco Murray, Dallas Cowboys (SEA)
Murray faces a rough opponent in the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6, taking him down a few notches in ranking this week. As of this time, the Seahawks haven’t allowed a single touchdown to be made by running backs, and have only allowed an average of 15.00 fantasy points per game to the position. Being the beast on the ground he is, Murray should prevail over other running backs who’ve struggled with Seattle. However temper your expectations on what Murray has produced thus far, because Seattle will do their best at keeping him contained.
Projected Statistics: 80 rushing yards, 35 receiving yards, zero touchdowns
9. LeSean McCoy, Philadelphia Eagles (NYG)
This might be the last time to see McCoy listed in the top 10 ranking list, as he has yet to earn the spot. However, McCoy has a fabulous opportunity to get his running game back on track in a home game against the Giants, who are really awful at stopping the run. If McCoy is given more rushing opportunities, he should be able to slice through the Giants’ secondary, who currently gives up an average of 29 fantasy points per week to their opposing running backs. If there was ever the opportunity for McCoy to redeem himself to his fantasy owners, Week 6 is it.
Projected Statistics: 65 rushing yards, 20 receiving yards, one touchdown
10. Lamar Miller, Miami Dolphins (GB)
Coming off of his bye week, Miller and the Dolphins host the Green Bay Packers at home. Improving each week, Miller has been a solid running back to own. Therefore fantasy owners should be rewarded nicely by Miller in his Week 6 matchup against a defense who has allowed over 123 rushing yards per game to opposing running backs. Look for a rested Miller to take advantage of Green Bay’s sub-par ground defense as you start him in your Week 6 lineup.
Projected Statistics: 60 rushing yards, 20 receiving yards, one touchdown
