Week 6 brings us quite a few favorable matchups for running backs, which as many fantasy owners know, was sorely needed. But, as always, there’s still a few guys you should probably avoid this week if you can help it. Let’s take a look at them.
Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Denver Broncos
Despite Denver’s woes in pass coverage, they’re actually allowing the fewest rushing yards-per-game this season, with a stingy 69.6. Jones-Drew has struggled this season, and won’t be in a good position to produce this weekend. There’s no doubt that Jacksonville will be playing from behind almost from the onset and will move to a pass-heavy offense. This means Jones-Drew won’t get a ton of action. If you can find a way to sit him this week, I’d definitely do it.
Le'Veon Bell, Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New York Jets
Bell and the Steelers anemic offense have the displeasure of going up against the New York Jets and their top-ranked run defense, according to Pro Football Focus. The Jets are allowing the second-fewest rushing yards-per-game to opposing ‘backs this season with just 76.2. They’re also allowing the fourth-fewest fantasy points-per-game at 11.6. The writing is all over the wall for Bell to be a non factor in the fantasy world this week.
Alfred Morris, Washington Redskins vs. Dallas Cowboys
Morris owners have had such a hard season, as the Redskins often get behind so quickly they have to run almost exclusively pass plays for the remainder of the game. Morris is in desperate need of a big breakout game, but it just won’t come against the Cowboys.
It’s very likely that the Cowboys will easily exploit the Redskins league-worst defense and put up a lot of points early, which will render Morris useless. Even if Washington can keep it close, the Cowboys have the fourth-best run defense in the league this season, allowing just 82.9 rushing yards-per-game. Sadly, Morris isn’t going to do much this week. Obviously you probably drafted him too high to bench, but if you can, do it!
