Fantasy Football Week 6: Sit These Wide Receivers

This week seems to have a lot of good matchups that are favorable to receivers.  I predict a good outing for most of the top wide receivers in fantasy.  But there are always a few that you need to second guess.  Here is your weekly dose of wide receivers that deserve to ride the bench:

Calvin Johnson, Wide Receiver, Detroit Lions

I understand that it is hard to sit a wide receiver of this caliber but with a lingering knee injury and facing a somewhat tough Browns secondary I would suggest giving Johnson an extra week on your bench.  He seems probable to play at this point but we all hope for no setbacks that could cause him to miss anymore time.

Denarius Moore, Wide Receiver, Oakland Raiders

Moore is up and down every week in standard fantasy leagues. Last week was up, this week will be down.  The Chiefs have the number one defense in the NFL and are extremely tough at home.  Even in PPR leagues you may want to consider benching this Raiders receiver because the Kansas City defense will be all over him.

Julian Edelman, Wide Receiver, New England Patriots

Edelman has not had a touchdown catch since week one where he had two of them.  He's been racking up yards and catches every week with injuries from Danny Amendola and Rob Gronkowski.  Now that Amendola returned last week and Gronk is expected back this week, Edelman's stock drops pretty severely.  Tom Brady is back to getting his top receivers so Edelman will definitely need to be on your bench for this week.

Anquan Boldin, Wide Receiver, San Francisco 49ers

Boldin is another one of those receivers who is either stud or dud every other week.  Who knows, maybe this week is a stud week... I would think not.  Arizona has an underrated secondary and is seventh in the league against fantasy wide receivers.  If other options are available on your team I would recommend you explore those options.  Boldin is a sit this week.

Josh Gordon, Wide Receiver, Cleveland Browns

Gordon has been excellent since he returned from his suspension.  Keep in mind when he returned, Brian Hoyer was the starting quarterback.  Now that he is out for the season Brandon Weeden makes his return under center.  The Lions do not have the best secondary but I don't believe any secondary is scared of Weeden throwing the ball.  Be cautious with this matchup at least for this week.
