1. Peyton Manning, Denver Broncos (SF)
Although Manning isn’t the No. 1 overall fantasy quarterback this year, he is still by far the safest play, even against a solid 49ers defense. San Francisco has allowed just over 12 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks, according to our fantasy against rankings (paid subscription required) but Manning is certainly matchup-proof, scoring 20 points against the Seahawks in Week 3 and 31 against the Cardinals in Week 5.
Projected Statistics: 350 yards, four touchdowns

2. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers (CAR)
Rodgers hasn’t thrown an interception since Week 1 and has 10 touchdowns in his past three games. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Projected Statistics: 330 yards, three touchdowns
3. Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers (KC)
Rivers has eclipsed 20 fantasy points in each of his past three games, and he’s facing just an average Chiefs defense. Kansas City corner Marcus Cooper has allowed the highest quarterback rating to opponents of anyone who has played at least 50 percent of his team’s snaps, per Pro Football Focus, and Rivers has two receivers who rank inside PFF’s top 10 receivers for the season: Malcom Floyd and Eddie Royal.
Projected Statistics: 310 yards, three touchdowns
4. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints (DET)
Despite throwing four interceptions in his past two games, Brees has still managed to score at least 15 points in every game this season. Although he’s had a questionable season on the field (and in terms of team success) Brees has still been one of the most consistent fantasy quarterbacks.
Projected Statistics: 280 yards, four touchdowns, one interception
5. Andrew Luck, Indianapolis Colts (CIN)
Although Luck has had an MVP-caliber season so far, he’s going up against the Bengals, who have allowed just six passing touchdowns all season, tied for the second fewest of any team in the league. It’s not a great matchup for Luck, but he’s found a way to be effective all season.
Projected Statistics: 360 yards, three touchdowns, one interception
6. Jay Cutler, Chicago Bears (MIA)
The Dolphins have been very stingy to opposing quarterbacks this season, but Rodgers just threw three touchdowns against them, including one at the very end of the game to win. Miami isn’t a particularly good team this season, and Cutler is surprisingly tied with Matt Ryan as the third best fantasy quarterback in the league. Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall have combined for seven touchdowns, and Cutler has utilized them for fantasy success, despite a large number of turnovers.
Projected Statistics: 320 yards, three touchdowns, two interceptions
7. Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons (BAL)
It seems weird to have Cutler and Ryan down here when they’re both so high on the total points rankings, but I’d like to see both of them show more consistency. Ryan has scored 14 and 12 points, respectively, in his past two games. However, he faces a Baltimore defense that is Pro Football Focus’s 11th worst pass defense and that has given up the fourth most passing yards this season.
Projected Statistics: 380 yards, one touchdown
8. Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks (STL)
Wilson had arguably one of the worst, if not the worst, games of his career Sunday, but should rebound given his overall success this season. Despite a 10-point game against the Dallas Cowboys, Wilson has still scored the seventh most fantasy points among quarterbacks this season and had throw two touchdowns each in his four previous games.
Projected Statistics: 270 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, five carries, 50 rushing yards
9. Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers (GB)
Although many owners will want to catapult Newton up to the top after a stellar rushing performance against the Bengals, I want to see him utilize his legs for multiple games before I move him up past Wilson, Ryan and Cutler. Prior to Sunday, Newton had no more than 19 rushing yards in a single game this season. Still, it looks like Newton is healthy and ready to go, and with Kelvin Benjamin has his favorite receiver, he’ll be effective.
Projected Statistics: 270 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, three carries, 35 rushing yards
10. Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions (NO)
After two lackluster weeks, Stafford gets a gift by playing the Saints, who are now without Jairus Byrd for the season after already allowing 17.87 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. If Calvin Johnson doesn’t return for this one, Stafford could be in trouble, but the Saints have been so ineffective on defense Golden Tate should be able to have an impact.
Projected Statistics: 290 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions
