Here are your Week 7 wide receiver sit-ems:
Alshon Jeffery, Chicago Bears
This past week against the New York Giants, Jeffery came down from the clouds he was riding in on with only one reception for 27 yards. They are up against a weak Washington Redskins defense but that seems to provide a spark for Brandon Marshall rather than Jeffery. Sit Jeffery this week to see how he performs and if all goes well he may return to our starting lineups next week.
Projections - Four receptions, 41 yards, zero touchdowns
Antonio Brown, Pittsburgh Steelers
Brown is seeing double-digit targets every week from his quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and that most likely will not change. The reason I say sit him this week is because of the Ravens. This rivalry is always a smash mouth type game where there isn’t always a lot of scoring. The Baltimore Ravens defense gave up a total of seven touchdowns to opposing receivers but five of them were week one against the Broncos. Brown only has two touchdowns in which both came against the Bears in week three. I do not see him getting into the endzone again this week
Projection – Six receptions, 50 yards, zero touchdowns
Torrey Smith, Baltimore Ravens
The reason I am sitting Smith is the same reason I am sitting Antonio Brown. This game will keep the receiver’s yards and touchdowns pretty low. The Steelers defense has only given up three touchdowns all year to opposing receivers even with only a single loss. Smith has been Joe Flacco’s go to guy all year except for this past game that Jacoby Jones returned from injury. Keep that in mind because it could hurt Smith’s fantasy value throughout the season.
Projection – Five receptions, 62 yards, zero touchdowns
Anquan Boldin, San Francisco 49ers
Boldin saw his usual number of targets this past week but only recorded three receptions in the process. He had all of us fantasy owners excited after his outstanding Week 1 performance and unfortunately he hasn’t done much of anything since. All year, defenses have been pressuring Boldin so he could not repeat what he did week one. Until defenses focus more on other receivers or the tight end Vernon Davis, Boldin will not see much action his way.
Projection – Three receptions, 37 yards, zero touchdowns
Andre Johnson, Houston Texans
Every week I feel like I have Johnson on my sit list. But as a number one receiver and not a single touchdown all year how can you blame me? The quarterback issue in Houston has not been helping Johnson’s stat line and now they are traveling to Kansas City to take on one of the toughest defenses in the NFL in the form of the Chiefs. Johnson needs to ride the bench once again this week in hope that the Texans figure out this offense.
Projection – Six receptions, 60 yards, zero touchdowns
