Fantasy Football Week Four: Start These Quarterbacks

Tonight's game between the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns will probably leave us without much intrigue outside of regular officials actually taking the field for the first time this season. I honestly don't expect Cleveland to keep the game close after the first quarter whistle is blown.

That being said, there is a lot of intrigue as it relates to fantasy football...Mostly on the Ravens side of the ball. Joe Flacco should be able to take care of business for owners that have him as a QB1 option.

This article is going to focus on Flacco and some other fantasy quarterbacks that you should definitely start as we enter the fourth week fo the 2012 NFL season.

Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens

The Cleveland Browns pass defense is much different without Joe Haden in the mix. The talented young corner is once again missing action due to a suspension. This seems to indicate that Torrey Smith should have somewhat of a field day against the likes of Sheldon Brown and Dimitri Patterson.

More importantly, the middle of the field should be open with Dennis Pitta continuing to excel at the tight end position.

Look for the Ravens to jump on Cleveland early and often through the air before settling down with Ray Rice on the ground. This is the way Cam Cameron, good or bad, operates.

Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons

Ryan will be going up against a Carolina Panthers defense that continues to struggle against both the pass and the run. Considering that Atlanta is starting to favor the air game, you can expect the up-and-coming quarterback to have a field day.

One issue that might hold Ryan back is a blowout. If Atlanta is up by multiple scores rather early in the game, he won’t be asked to put the ball up too often, if at all.

Peyton Manning, Denver Broncos

As I mentioned in an article earlier today, there is no reason to believe that Manning won’t be able to go off against an inferior Oakland Raiders secondary. He should be able to find seems for both Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas down the field. A major component here will be Jacob Tamme working the middle against lackluster Raiders’ coverage by linebackers and safeties.

I envision Manning putting up 300 yards and multiple scores, which makes him a solid QB1 performer this week.

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

I guess it could be stated that you should start any quarterback against the New Orleans Saints defense. Hell, just go with every single skill position player going up against that unit. This is how bad New Orleans has been on the defensive side of the ball thus far this season, and it doesn’t promise to get much better moving forward.

Consequently, Green Bay is coming off a disastrous Monday Night Football loss against the Seattle Seahawks, a game that was stolen from them by now defunct replacement officials. This doesn’t even take into account the fact that Green Bay has struggled a great deal on the offensive side of the ball over the course of the last two games.

Expect a huge breakout performance by Aaron Rodgers and company against New Orleans come Sunday. I am!
