Fantasy Football Week Three: Sit These Three Quarterbacks

Happy NFL Sunday to you football fans out there. Without ranting on and on, let me just get to the nuts-and-bolts by providing you with three QB1 options that you should consider sitting today and tomorrow. You will find Pro Bowl performers and Super Bowl Champs on this list. That is just the nature of the beast as it relates to fantasy football.

So let's take a gander.

Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons

I won’t recommend that you sit Ryan too often this season. In fact, this might be the only time outside of the Falcons’ bye that I do so. That being said, I just don’t like their matchup against the San Diego Chargers in California on Sunday.

The Chargers have yielded an 82.7 quarterback rating through two games, while recording three sacks. I just cannot envision Ryan being given the necessary time to pass in order to eat apart what is a decent Chargers’ secondary.

Only way I recommend you sit Ryan is if you have a viable QB2 option in the form of Alex Smith and Robert Griffin III, among others.

Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles

The Arizona Cardinals defense is damn good. Most “experts,” including myself, thought they were going to be good, but this is ridiculous. With their performance in the first two games of thje season, Arizona has quickly put the NFC West on notice, at least on the defensive side of the ball.

Arizona has yielded an opposing quarterback rating of 72.3, amazing considering they faced future Hall of Famer Tom Brady last week. More importantly, the Cardinals have forced three turnovers in their first two games.

Don’t expect Vick to get the time in the pocket to take down a stellar Cardinals’ secondary. You can also count on multiple Philadelphia turnovers this afternoon. Either way, Vick just hasn’t given us reason to believe he can be counted on as a true QB1 option.

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

One of the only times I will recommend that you sit Rodgers if you have a solid QB2 option in standard leagues. Green Bay’s offense will be going up against a Seattle secondary that returns three Pro Bowl performers from a season ago. Additionally, Greg Jennings is nowhere near 100 percent and might not play Monday night.

Equally as important is the fact that Green Bay will have to travel to the Pacific Northwest to take on a Seattle team that is extremely difficult to beat at home.

I simply cannot envision Rodgers putting up solid starting fantasy football numbers tomorrow evening. It really is that simple.
