Fantasy Impact: Bengals RB Joe Mixon Ruled Out for Week 14

The Cincinnati Bengals will now be without their two top picks for Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears. Running back Joe Mixon, who left last week's Monday Night Football game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a concussion, didn't clear the concussion protocol on Friday and the team ruled him out as a result.

Mixon, who started to emerge as Cincinnati's featured running back and averaged nearly five yards per carry over the last two games, will cede his touches to running back Giovani Bernard. With Jeremy Hill on injured reserve, Bernard will see a heavy workload on Sunday against Chicago.

When Mixon went down in Week 13, Cincinnati committed to Bernard and he rewarded them with 96 total yards on 15 touches. Surprisingly, Bernard only caught two receptions and most of his yardage and touches came via the running game.

Given the workload he will see against Chicago and his role as a strong pass-catching back, Bernard makes for a great RB2 play in PPR leagues this weekend. Chicago's defense can be exploited and Bernard is game script proof, so barring injury, fantasy owners should feel confident about him receiving a heavy dose of touches. Make sure to also fire him up in DFS, especially on sites like DraftKings that use PPR scoring.
