On the same day that they have apparently moved on from Victor Cruz, the Giants are seemingly parting ways with starting running back Rashad Jennings.
It's being reported that New York will release the 31-year-old veteran, saving about $3 million against the cap.
This past season saw Jennings put up 794 total yards and four touchdowns in 13 games (12 starts). Even with rookie Paul Perkins in the mix, Jennings finished as the Giants' top rusher.
For his part, Perkins performed pretty well as a rookie. He gained 456 yards and averaged 4.1 yards per rush in limited action.
Though, the expectation here is that New York will look for a starting running back in either free agency and the draft. It's not a surprise that since the release of Jennings, Adrian Peterson has come up as a possibility.
Free agency starts in three weeks.
