As the New York Jets prepare for a game that could push them to .500, they'll be without running back Matt Forte. New York ruled out the 31-year-old running back on Friday with a knee injury, opening the door for Bilal Powell to see an expanded workload.
Forte, who typically receives 12-plus touches per game, will now cede many of those touches to Powell. As a result, Powell quickly jumps onto the DFS radar as someone who is an absolute must play in 25-plus percent of your lineups this week. He should likely see 18-plus touches in this game thanks to his ability to carry the ball and catch it out of the backfield, better yet he will see touches regardless of the direction the game goes.
In terms of matchup, this is also a plus opportunity for Powell. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers surrendered the second-most rushing touchdowns through eight games this season and have progressively allowed more rushing yards over the past few weeks. Given the volume of touches he'll receive and the matchup, while it's never good to see a player get hurt, DFS owners and fantasy players will benefit in a significant way if they play Powell.
