As expected, the New England Patriots have officially activated running back Dion Lewis from the phyiscally unable to perform (PUP) list. He will be active Sunday night against the Seattle Seahawks. Though, we shouldn't expect much from him in his first game in over a calendar year. Lewis is returning from both an ACL tear and a patella stress fracture.
From a DFS standpoint, LeGarrette Blount remains the only viable option on the Patriots' roster. And he's a darn good value play this week. After all, Seattle has yielded 120-plus rushing yards in each of the past three games and just gave up 162 yards on the ground to the Buffalo Bills on Monday night.
We're going to want to see how Lewis is brought along here before dropping Blount down a notch in the fantasy football world. He's a year removed from last seeing the field and will need time to get back into football shape.
Once that does happen, it wouldn't be too much of a surprise to see Lewis take substantial reps from Blount. Here's a guy who absolutely dominating before his season-ending injury last November.
Dion Lewis 2015 Stats | Rush | Yards | Rec | Yards | TD | Yards per touch |
| 49 | 234 | 36 | 388 | 6 | 7.3 |
If nothing else, Lewis gives Tom Brady a legitimate receiving threat out of the backfield. Despite his tremendous play thus far this season, Blount has only racked up six receptions in eight games. Who might those targets be taken from? Well, our money is on less two tight end sets, which means Martellus Bennett will likely see a downtick in production.
As it relates to Lewis, we're going to want to see how he's integrated into the Pats' offense before drawing a conclusion. Though if he performs at anywhere near the level we saw in six games last season, Lewis will be a stellar option on PPR-heavy leagues and contests, DraftKings included.
