Fantasy Slant: Bills Move on from RB Jonathan Williams

On Sunday, the Buffalo Bills made the shocking decision to waive second-year running back Jonathan Williams, who was previously slated to be the team's primary backup behind LeSean McCoy

Despite putting up less than 100 rushing yards as a rookie fifth-round pick last season, no one really saw this one coming. With Williams now gone, we can fully expect a huge workload from McCoy. Also look for veteran Mike Tolbert to take on a larger short-yardage role, especially in the red zone.

It's an interesting move for the Bills. Sure Williams put up less than 100 rushing yards in his rookie season, but he was expected to be the team's No. 2 running back now that the team didn't match the Patriots offer sheet to Mike Gillislee.

We're at the point where Buffalo is simply stuck between full-scale tank mode and a false hope of contention. Remember, the team traded Sammy Watkins to the Los Angeles Rams last month before seeing Anquan Boldin retire after just a couple weeks with the team.

And the running back position behind McCoy is questionable at best right now. Tolbert takes over as Buffalo's No. 2 back with Taiwan Jones and fullback Patrick DiMarco now in the mix for touches. Yuck.

Unless McCoy is traded here soon ( a real possibility), we expect the Bills to work him into the ground this season. If that's the case his fantasy relevance goes up big time. Outside of that, not much to see from a fantasy perspective in Western New York.
