Fantasy Slant: Chargers WR Keenan Allen to Play in Week 7

While the Los Angeles Chargers and fantasy owners suffered a scare late this week after wide receiver Keenan Allen landed on his shoulder and injured it during practice, those concerns can now fade into the darkness. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Sunday night that Allen will start on Sunday against the Denver Broncos.

It's good news for Los Angeles in a winnable game against the Broncos that could push its winning streak to three. But even with Allen ready to play on Sunday, fantasy owners might still want to exercise some caution with their expectations.

Denver boasts one of the best secondaries in football, especially at cornerback. In the Chargers season opener against Denver, Denver's cornerbacks limited Allen to just five receptions and 35 receiving yards on 10 targets. Allen saved fantasy owners with a touchdown, but it was an example of how well Denver can take away Allen as one of Philip Rivers go-to weapons.

While it's unlikely fantasy owners have a better alternate that would allow them to bench Allen, he is someone to avoid in DFS. But if you want to plug a Chargers' pass catcher into your DraftKings or FanDuel lineups, look to tight end Hunter Henry in a great matchup.
