It sure looks like the Baltimore Ravens are going to be running with (pun intended) Kenneth Dixon as their starting running back next season.
Baltimore will reportedly sign third-down and pass-catching specialist Danny Woodhead when free agency opens on Thursday. This means the team will probably relegate Terrance West to No. 3 duties if they decide to keep him on the roster next season.
That's pretty much the biggest takeaway from this otherwise under-the-radar move. Dixon put up 4.3 yards an attempt on 80 rushes while tallying 544 total yards as a rookie last season. Meanwhile, West gained over 1.000 total yards while averaging four yards per touch.
Though, as the season progressed, it looked like Baltimore was leaning on Dixon more than West down the stretch. That's definitely a big aspect of this whole thing.
As it relates to Woodhead, he missed all but two games with the San Diego Chargers last season after suffering a torn ACL. This came on the heels of the veteran putting up 80 receptions and nearly 1,100 total yards back in 2015. Woodhead should remain a PPR stud moving forward in 2017 with Baltimore.
