Former NFL Player Tyler Sash Reportedly Dead at 27

This is some absolutely horrible news breaking out of Iowa. 

According to CBS affilliate KCCI in Des Moines, former Iowa safety Tyler Sash was found dead earlier Tuesday morning by a family member that came by his residence to walk his dog. 

From the report: 

"Sources close to the situation tell KCCI's Scott Reister that Sash was found dead about 8 a.m. by a family member who came to walk his dog.

The cause of death is not yet known.

Sash, 27, was a member of the Hawkeye football team from 2008-2010. Sash then played for the New York Giants from 2011-2013. Sash was cut from the Giants on Aug. 31, 2013."

Sash was a sixth-round pick of the New York Giants in 2011. After appearing in all 16 games during the team's Super Bowl run that season, Sash would ultimately see the field just seven more times in his career. 

The former NFL safety seemed in good spirits on social media over the weekend, tweeting about his Hawkeyes season opening game.
