Geno Smith Out 6-10 Weeks with Broken Jaw

This was the year that New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith expected himself to break out after two unsuccessful seasons to start his NFL career. Whether that still happens remains to be seen, but Smith suffered a major setback at the hands of a teammate on Tuesday.

First-year Jets head coach Todd Bowles announced mere minutes ago that Smith suffered a broken jaw after being punched by teammate IK Enemkpali in the team's locker room.

This isn't a joke...

This just adds to a laundry list of issues surrounding Smith since the Jets made him a second-round pick back in the 2013 NFL draft. He's previously had issues with missing team meetings and hasn't performed up to level on the field. While it's too early to draw conclusions here, at least one report indicates Smith may have started the fight:

With Smith now on the shelf for at least the first two weeks of the regular season, Ryan Fitzpatrick will start in his stead. Neither Smith nor Fitzpatrick are viable fantasy options, but this does lead to questions regarding the Jets' passing game. Is the vetreran capable of getting the ball down the field to utilize the new threats, mainly Brandon Marshall, the team added in the offseason?
