Coming off a shortened 2012 season because of injury, Greg Jennings is looking to start anew with the Minnesota Vikings after spending the first seven years of his NFL career with the Green Bay Packers. Just two years removed from a 949 yard, nine touchdown year with the Packers, fantasy owners seem to be ignoring Jennings’s previous successes. According to Fantasy Football Calculator’s average draft position rankings, Jennings is going as the 31st wide receiver in most fantasy drafts. Just looking at his numbers in 2012, it’s easy to see why. But does Jennings have considerable value on his new team?

2013 Outlook
Although he’ll be 30 years old at the end of September, there’s no doubt that Jennings has considerable talent. During a three-year stretch spanning 2008-2010, Jennings eclipsed 1,100 yards in each season and scored a total of 25 touchdowns, playing in 16 games each year.
After the 2010 season, injuries eventually caught up to Jennings and he missed three games in 2011 and eight in 2012. But if he stays healthy, Jennings could be a great fantasy option considering his value going in the late sixth/early seventh rounds in most drafts. The biggest knock against Jennings’s value is his quarterback, Christian Ponder, who only finished last year with 2,935 yards and the Vikings finished 31st in the league in passing offense.
But given his history as a talented receiver, and the fact that there’s almost no one for Ponder to throw to with Percy Harvin out of Minnesota, Jennings should be an every-week starter as a No. 2 receiver and likely won’t be demoted to a flex play by year’s end.
Dynasty Outlook
Jennings is aging, and the NFL isn’t traditionally kind to receivers over 30. For the foreseeable future in Minnesota, Jennings will be the No. 1 receiver but it will always be a run-first team. Jennings carries considerable value for this year and maybe next, but not much after that.
2013 Stat Projections: 65 receptions, 930 yards, six touchdowns
