Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson, the No. 1 fantasy player in the NFL last season suffered what the team is calling a sprained wrist in Sunday's loss to the Detroit Lions.
An MRI will reveal the extent of the sprain and whether Johnson will miss extensive time. Though, reports on Sunday night indicated that Johnson could miss multiple weeks and potentially even half the regular season.
Needless to say, this would be a major blow for the Cardinals. They don't have anyone of real substance behind Johnson on the depth chart with Kerwynn Williams and Andre Ellington splitting time in Johnson' stead after the running back went down to injury Sunday.
From a fantasy aspect, this is also potentially a major blow. In terms of ADP, Johnson was the No. 1 overall player off the board this summer. He's coming off a 2016 campaign that saw him put up league bests in total yards (2,118) and total touchdowns (20).
We'll have further updates as they become available.
