That dreaded preseason injury bug might have come back to bite the New York Giants in a big way on Monday. For some reason, star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was playing beyond the team's first possession. That's when Browns defensive back Briean Boddy-Calhoun laid a dirty low hit on the Pro Bowl pass catcher.
OBJ originally started to walk off the field, but collapsed to the ground in a heap of pain. He was immediately rule out for the remainder of the game, with word coming from the Giants that he suffered an ankle sprain and was being evaluated for a concussion.
Obviously, further tests will be needed here for the Giants to fully understand the severity of the injury. It it's a high-ankle sprain, we're looking at him missing the start of the regular season. It could also be something more severe or a simply low-ankle sprain.
Further confirmation won't come until following the game, at the earliest.
We'll provide updates as they come in.
